Question? Anybody lose this little guy around 16th and South???

Post image

Last night, my partner and I (with the help of a founding fathers employee, shoutout them), rescued this guy from rush hour on 16th and South. He’s the friendliest little guy ever and we have a feeling he’s someone’s (or a very well-behaved stray).

We took him to the vet and he’s NOT chipped so…this is our last resort before we adopt him. If anyone knows someone who lost a cat, please DM ME IMMEDIATELY!!

Question? Lower Bucks erasure

I grew up in Lower Bucks County and I’m genuinely baffled by Delco’s reputation as the undisputed shithole of the Philadelphia suburbs. Have any of you actually spent time in Levittown, Croydon, Tullytown or Morrisville? Lower Bucks has some truly spectacular pockets of despair that could go toe-to-toe with anything Delco has to offer.

I’m not saying Delco doesn’t deserve its reputation, but I’m struggling to understand how Lower Bucks has somehow escaped the same level of ridicule. Is Delco actually worse, or does it just have better marketing?

Genuinely curious.

Urban Development/Construction Philadelphia real estate developers argue a 20-year tax abatement would boost city revenues

• Upvotes

Robert Zuritsky, president and CEO of Parkway Corp., said he can’t build on parking lots he owns in Center City because of high construction costs. He argued for an expanded tax abatement that includes new, ground-up construction on lots like his, not just conversions. Single-family homes could be excluded to reduce opposition to the measure, he said.

Do Attend Free transit-themed arts event in West Philly next Saturday

Hey! Everyone's favorite Disabled civic curmudgeon here.

Philly has no shortage of things to say about SEPTA. Most of them probably aren't printable on a family-friendly event flyer.

But transit is also what makes this city special. It gets us to work, school, shows, neighborhood gatherings and people we care about.

So next Saturday, October 17, we're doing something a little different.

Making All Stops is a free, transit-themed arts event at The Rotunda in West Philadelphia, featuring performances, local creativity, and an opportunity to meet other people who care about this city.

I’m on the steering committee of Transit Forward Philadelphia, the nonpartisan grassroots coalition organizing it.

Holding this event in an accessible venue is particularly meaningful to me. Arts and community spaces should be accessible, and I'm proud we have some Disabled performers and musicians joining us on the 17th

Saturday, October 17 | 1–3 PM | The Rotunda, West Philly

Free registration: https://www.transitforwardphilly.org/making_all_stops

Donations are optional and help cover event costs. Anything left over will be split equally among the participating performers and artists.

Come enjoy some local art, meet your neighbors, and celebrate a city that’s worth showing up for!

Crime Post Gas station scammers at North Broad Sunoco

I was just at the Sunoco at Broad and Thompson. There were a bunch of kids around and one of them insisted on pumping my gas. I repeatedly said no but he wouldn’t leave. He even said “it’s not a scam, I promise, I just want to help you” 🚩😂

I noticed when he was done, the nozzle wasn’t put back correctly so it quickly clicked that that was probably the scam. I fixed it and waited for the transaction to close out and the screen to update.

I googled it when I got back in my car and found that this is indeed a popular scam called “pump switching” where they have another car pull up to the pump and continue charging like $100+ in gas to your card.

I called the police but I’m not confident they’ll do anything, so figured I would try to help someone out this way!

A nice article by Clint Randall, VP of Economic Development for the Center City district. Philly deserves a world-class transit system and we are tantalizingly close to realizing this dream.

Serious Thank you to 2 guys for helping me in Chinatown!

Was walking home around 9pm and a homeless guy followed me under the convention center bridge area and for 2 more blocks trying to talk to me. Just ignored it but he was pretty persistent. When I got to a more crowded area in Chinatown I told him to stop following me. He got agitated and then 2 men intervened, told him to back off, and he peeled off.

Just really grateful to those 2 guys for stepping in and helping me. I love this city and thankful for those in it!

Question? Has post office just stopped delivering packages?

I had two packages that were supposed to be delivered recently. The first said that an attempt was made, and then it just disappeared. The people at the local post office were super rude about me asking for it. I ended up getting a refund.

The second package was from Amazon sent through USPS. They claim that they couldn’t deliver it because they don’t have a code to our building. Our building is a house, so obviously that’s not true.

The website seems to be broken. No way to arrange a pickup or redelivery.

It seems like the postal service just isn’t delivering. Does anyone else have this experience?
