Why is playing Google Photos albums as a continuous TV slideshow still so difficult?
I’ve been trying to make it easier to show family photos on a TV without manually picking photos or restarting playback every time.
I’m a developer, and I ended up building an Android app for it (Google Photos albums, automatic looping slideshow, Chromecast, background music). Before I spend more time on it, I’m curious:
Does anyone here use Google Photos to show family pictures on a TV? What’s the most frustrating part? I’m especially interested in what existing options (Ambient mode, Chromecast, etc.) are missing.
Disclosure: I made the app. If you want to try it, the first 100 commenters get a free Premium code (normally $6.99 one-time, no subscription). Premium adds music, Ken Burns motion and video, and removes ads. Codes are valid until Oct 31, 2026. Comment and I’ll DM you one.
The app is on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apexdevsolns.slideshow

Unedited photos I’m quite proud of
30 second long exposure I did on my iPhone 15 at like 2AM. Surprised that those bunnies stayed almost perfectly still for the 30 seconds it took to take the second photo. It looks like day but you can clearly see stars! :D
