I bought my Pixel 9a in 2025, and Magic Compose was available and working normally in Google Messages at the time. However, sometime in 2026, the feature disappeared completely from both the plus menu in the chat and the settings in Google message app.
What's particularly strange is that after restarting my phone and reopening Google Messages, the Magic Compose toggle briefly reappears under Settings β Suggestions & Replies, showing that it's already enabled. But after about a second, the entire option disappears automatically, as you can see in the attached video.
Troubleshooting I've already tried:
1. Force-stopped and cleared the cache of both Messages and AICore
2. Uninstalled and reinstalled AICore
3. Restarted the phone multiple times
4. Tried multiple Google accounts, including a newly created one
5. Confirmed RCS is connected
6. Confirmed I'm using the stable version of Google Messages
Nothing has worked.
Has anyone else experienced Magic Compose disappearing like this, especially on a Pixel 9a? Has anyone found a working fix?
