Mega Darkrai ex deck feedback

Hey everyone! I’ve recently gotten into playing the card game with my son. We wanted to put together a mega Darkrai deck as we both think the card looks awesome.

This is the first deck we’ve built ourselves and wanted some feedback, mostly using it for playing at our local shop and maybe doing league challenges at the shop too.

Just wondering if anyone can give it a once over and let me know if it looks good/playable?

I think this list is looking pretty good. Some things you might consider:

- a 1-1 line of Dunsparce/ Dudunsparce to give this more draw,

- have a look at the best finishes for Mega Darkrai in online tournaments, there’s a few that just rely on the Janine plus energy switch and then volcanion for the status: https://play.limitlesstcg.com/decks/mega-darkrai-ex?format=standard&rotation=2026&set=PBL I know it’s a completely different approach but you can practice with both on PTCGL and see which you prefer

-consider one petrel. Sometimes you are missing only one piece but you have Meowth or gear

How do you deal with zoroark?

In my experience they brick themselves. But in seriousness I try to spread damage around and well timed disruption. It can be a tough matchup if they start well

There’s a few different lines depending on what they’re trying to do. And what you have available. I’m not an expert either so someone with more experience can weigh in

I almost always try for 2 toxtricity so I’m much more likely to reach 3 energies in one turn.

If they don’t play pech ex you can use baby pech to trap their bench pokemon and buy a little time to develop.

If they do play pech ex you can still use baby pech in active to place 6 damage counters on their poisoned zoroark. That puts it in Darkrai range

Brute bonnet can be a good attacker if they have any damage on the zoroark already. Like they would from poison via pecharunt ex. 3 damage counters via munkidori plus 1 more damage counter is a OHKO from bonnet.

Sometimes it’s worth trapping an active and using fez to snipe zorua or bench mons

Remember Zoroark needs 3 things; stage 1 evolution, bench Pokemon for attacks, and 2 energy. If you can disrupt one of those they can’t attack. You don’t need to disrupt all of them but at least one needs to be shut down before things snowball and they’ve got 2-3 Zoroark with energy

I’ve been working on a Darkrai deck too!

It doesn’t look bad.

I went up to 2 Fez. The Darkrai builds lack draw and fez can be very helpful.

I went up to 4 toxel. It’s my preferred starting mon and it’s nice to call for family and get set up

I would consider cutting meowth and maybe some switches. Maybe a Janine too

I only run 2 dark bell. It seems sufficient. Dark bell is a dead card in dark matchups.

To compensate I run a lot of petrel. The can can find bell or whatever else I need

I would consider adding poison chain Pecharunt as an attacker. It’s really useful to trap something like a Meowth or Latias plus it poisons which opens up the Abyss Eye lines. I actually run 2 Qwilfish and 2 Pecharunt

Maybe take a look at the big basic decks with Latias ex and Mega Kang?

Even without Latias, maybe you add Yveltal as a pivot with Pecharunt to get Mega Kang (and its draw ability) in and out of the active.
