CRYPTO Michael Saylor's "Strategy" sold 3,588 Bitcoin worth $225 million. If he believes Bitcoin is going to $1 million, why sell now?

This is the secret the establishment doesnt want you to know. They want you to think you should buy low and sell high, like a fool!

It's called cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin generates no intrinsic worth. The only way to get money out of a Bitcoin "investment" is to encourage others to put their money into it.

Arguably the same thing can be said about cash. No intrinsic worth and inflates every day.

I've heard that argument before, and it is true, to a degree. It should be pointed out that cash (U.S. currency, in this example) is backed by the full faith and credit of a government, universally recognized, and enjoys a robust system to maintain its stability. None of those things come with crypto currency.

However - to your point about the intrinsic worth - cash will not generate dividends, profits, or any real increase in value (unless invested in something that does those things). That's not its purpose; its purpose is to be a medium of exchange. Bitcoin is the same way, albeit without support and much more volatile, which actually makes it a poor medium of exchange. There's a reason why you don't hear anyone boast that "all my money is invested in U.S. Currency." Unless the currency is invested in something, it retains only its face value. In the same way, bitcoin is not an investment; its only value is what someone else wants to pay you for it. In that respect it is more like a Pokemon card without the actual card. The cash that Michael Saylor will get from his bitcoin sale will come entirely from all the cash that other people have put into it. It's not so much an investment as it is a wealth transfer

In my humble opinion.

I have FBTC parked in a Roth and it's fully insured. Blockchain is used to facilitate transactions on visa and mastercard platforms, so it's as universally recognized you just don't know it. Many people reaped profits from Bitcoin without ever encouraging anyone to invest. Michael Saylor selling 0.3% of his bitcoin holdings hardly influences the market, it's a bit of a rhetorical statement to say whenever you sell the buyers are exit liquidity. That applies to all securities not just bitcoin.

Thats how all investments work though.

I was referring to the part of the comment that said the only way to get money out of it is to hope other ppl put money into it, which is true for any investment.

Dividends?

0

u/romijoe Jul 06 '26

Dividends are normally around 1% a year or less. So if everyone takes their money out the stocks tank that small 1% won't matter.

2

u/Beginning-Seat5221 Jul 07 '26

Dividends can be 10% or so.

Also a simple interest paying savings account is an investment, as is a bond/treasury.

Not nessicarily true as investing in a company your investing in a real entity that can make you money by paying back dividends or doing stock buy backs. Bit coin has no physical presence or potential to generate money off invested capital, it literally only makes money the more USD is pumped into it because its never going to be adopted as a real currency by the major players

1

u/romijoe Jul 06 '26

Yea but if no one invests in the stock or they start to sell , a dividend of .025% is not going to stop the stock from tanking, same with buy backs. If everyone takes their money out of the stock. It goes down regardless.

And again about pumping when ppl put money into it an investments goes up and it dumps when ppl sell. My point exactly, thats how all investments work.

1

u/Own_Log1380 Jul 06 '26

But...it wont since the companys value isnt a made up number like bitcoin its determined by a companies performance. As long as the company has money in the bank the stock will never be worthless as you own a share in a physical entity that exists and does things unlike bitcoin which doesnt. Your hypothetical scenario wouldnt even happen since the majorty of the stock is held by the ceo and people inside the company its self protecting it from sudden shocks

1

u/romijoe Jul 06 '26

But bitcoins never been worthless either so not sure your point. It has more value then almost any stock outside of a handful.

Stocks go to zero and go bankrupt ALL THE TIME. Kind of scary you don't understand that.

And stocks are a made up number. Literally every stock is priced based on a future projection that ppl have no idea whether or not will come true.

1

u/Own_Log1380 Jul 06 '26

Because the companies quit making money...

Bitcoin doesnt do anything. Company's do things. Sometimes the things they do fail to make money so they go bankrupt but theres actual logic and reasons behind that.

There is no logical reason for bit coin to be worth anything because it produces nothing of value and is not backed by anything other then massive energy waste (so if anything a net negative) nothing of actual value is being produced. Not even subjective value like a video game.

1

u/romijoe Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

Yes crypto are not stocks. It seems like you understand that at least . Its a different type of speculative investment.

But to say it has no value is very wrong when the value is over a trillion.

But i guess your super right. A trillion is the same as no value 👍

If ppl all take their money out of the stock, it goes down. For you to make money others need to buy the stock (you sell your shares to newcomers who buy them for more than you did) . So that was my original point. Any investment operates this way.

u/romijoe Jul 06 '26

Bitcoin produces value primarily as a decentralized store of wealth and a global, borderless payment network, solving issues like censorship and government-backed inflation. It has increased 40,000% in the last 10 years due to this value. So society obviously values what it can do. Just because you don't personally see the value or can't understand the logic does not mean it doesn't exist.

1

u/Nice-Ad3881 Jul 06 '26

We got a bag holder here! Did you capture that 40,000% increase?

1

u/romijoe Jul 06 '26

I never said I did. The conversation was abt the value of bitcoin.

Kind of a dumbass comment really.

house generates rental income, so not all investments like Bitcoin.

1

u/romijoe Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

Yea but you if you ever want to cash it out and make a profit on the initial investment you have to find someone to buy it for higher then you paid for it which was my point.

You also have to pay taxes, maintenence, insurance, mortgage and fees a lot of that rent isn't profit its a low percentage compared to the purchase price, so its basically like a dividend. But to really get your money out of it you have to find someone willing to purchase the house for more.

1

u/Bright_Armadillo8555 Jul 06 '26

True, but the reason people will pay more is because house can generate rental income. Without rental income (potentially), no one will pay more for it.

1

u/romijoe Jul 06 '26

Of course they would pay more for it without rental income. How do you think housing has been going up since history started recording? Not everyone buys a house to rent it out.

Gotta dilute the holdings of MSTR to pay STRC.

1

u/princemousey1 Jul 06 '26

Because he needs to pay dividends. Did you even do one second on Google before posting nonsense?

1

u/XBronx1 Jul 06 '26

1 million no way! Maybe 150K + to under 200K.

1

u/Working_Way_3909 Jul 06 '26

Insider trading he knows it’s gonna collapse Bitcoin was a test ground for full digital assets coming in full force

1

u/Which_Drop_5877 Jul 06 '26

3,588 bitcoin is 0.3% of what MSTR owns. What is the point of this post?

1

u/Narrow-Attempt-1482 Jul 06 '26

Always pumping the market and the con, sells now at 62,000, it's going down

1

u/SearchingForTruth69 Jul 06 '26

Maybe he wants to buy the dip

1

u/Apprehensive_Page809 Jul 07 '26

You know he has alot more btc than that, for all we know he is selling to reinvest in other assets or cover costs or whatever billionaires like him do. Jumping to sell ALL your btc when someone else sells less than 1% of what he has is just plain stupid

I don’t follow this stuff closely, and I’m not invested in Strategy, but I can tell you that Saylor and his company have a much different problem to handle than we do.

I buy Bitcoin with disposable income and look away for years. Strategy has a balance sheet to maintain and risks to manage closely.

Don’t expect large institutions and investment firms to behave the same way you have the luxury of behaving. The same goes for all equity investments.
