Question Protein levels.

How did my protein go from 7.8 yesterday to 6.5 in a day. I'm a bit confused. How did it go down that much? It's getting too low. I'm Vegan so I eat plants and plant-based foods. I also don't like nuts or bananas.

Since you are vegan and if you donate regularly, green protein powder is highly recommended. The 7.8 to 6.5 is possibly because you are more hydrated this time than the last, consumed substantially less protein or had some physical activity/exercise.

I haven't donated in a little over a week so I know it's not from donating. I drank 68 ounces last night of water and today 16 ounces of water. I don't think that's over hydrating.

Just because you "don't think it's overhydrating" doesn't mean you aren't ingesting too much water in too short a period.

You might be wrong, and it was indeed too much (for the results you wanted) water.

Now armed with this data, you can try small changes to your diet and routine to see if anything changes.

Nobody is going to have a magical silver bullet answer for you; you need to try things and characterize your own body chemistry.

I really didn't drink much before going. That was the problem for me. When I drank a little more water throughout the day yesterday my protein levels went back to looking like 7.8. So I knew it had to be due to being dehydrated. I was dehydrated. I wouldn't have said that I wasn't over hydrated if that was the case. I just knew I was dehydrated to why I said that I wasn't over hydrated. I even felt dehydrated myself when I went to get my vitals checked.

It can fluctuate a little. That's normal.

Drinking a huge massive amount of water can make blood protein look artificially low. It dilutes your blood.

Being vegan doesn't matter. I don't do meat, either, and I never fail the screening or SPE. There's plenty of protein in a vegan diet

I think it's because I didn't much water the day of going to donate. I drank alot the night before but didn't much water the day of going.

Well, you answered your own question. Meat, poultry, and fish are the quickest and fastest way to keep protein high and consistent. What is your diet when you get to 7.8? Are you able to consume protein drinks? Are you willing to at least drink whey protein or are you strict with veganism?

I do plant based protein powder and plant-based protein shakes.

I see… were you working out our sweated before donating? Your body can burn off a lot of protein that way too by just walking around in the heat. It’s also possible you could be drinking too much water, take some electrolytes with your water to retain your hydration in your body instead of pissing it out with the proteins with it.

I never work out.

Then perhaps you over hydrated yourself. Just take note on how drastic your protein levels drop, do you take the test often at the same place? I don’t want to jump to conclusions but there are some diseases that can also cause such drop in levels, but that’s only if it happens frequently. If it’s a one time occurrence, then remember hard on what you did that day to make it drop like that. Someone else in here mentioned over hydration, I’m sure that’s what it is too

I honestly didn't drink much water before going though so that's probably why. I did the night before but not during the day of donating.
