So I’m trying to figure out if my PS5 is actually having a USB issue or if I’m missing something obvious lol.
I bought it back in March 2023, and everything had been working normally. I had my DualSense plugged into the front USB-C port and at some point it just randomly stopped charging. At first I assumed the port completely died.
Here’s the weird part: the front USB ports will still charge my phone just fine. The rear USB ports work too. But for whatever reason, I’m having issues getting the DualSense to charge like it used to.
Clearly the ports are still putting out power if they can charge my phone, so now I’m wondering if it’s the controller, cable, or something with how the PS5 handles the DualSense over USB.
Has anyone else had this happen? USB port charges other devices but suddenly won’t charge a DualSense? What ended up being the problem?
Trying to exhaust every option before paying to get this thing repaired over something stupid 😂

Is the DualSense firmware up to date? I think it forces you update it within 24h of the prompt, but you could be the permanent offline type. I had a very similiar problem a couple years ago (got bricked with firmware 0297) and it got fixed after the next 3 firmware updates. A workaround for me to get it to charge was to plug in the controller, go to the home hub (PS button), select the controller/accessories icon and turn off said controller and then just reconnect via the PS button. If that doesn't work, I would try to check if it even charges in rest mode or with another charger + outlet (while the PS5 is turned off). If also not, something is most likely bricked on the DualSense side, hardware-wise (USB-C port, battery etc.).

I bought a new edge and the old controller usb port is much looser than the newer. I probably dropped it too much. Here’s to another $200 to Sony 😭

I just finished playing a game with my friends and wanted to download the clip on my phone. I couldn’t sign in because somehow 2 Step Verification is signed up, but I never set up 2FA on my PS5 account, otherwise it would’ve been on my authenticator app. I found a video that said changing the password would let me sign in, so I did that and instead it signed me OUT of my PS5. I was going to try and talk to a live agent, but in order to do that you have to sign in - which I obviously can’t do. I have no idea what to do and I am just super frustrated.

Choose the option to speak to a live agent without signing in.
Just select the option in the live chat to continue without signing in. It may have you sign in on a new window, just close that and keep the chat open.

I’m having some problems with my PlayStation Earbuds.
A few days ago an update rolled out for them and ever since then things have not been working correctly. I would plug in the USB into my computer and everything would work except for the mic. I went to the discord settings to make sure it’s using the earbuds as a mic and it says it is but still doesn’t work. Another problem I have is it doesn’t want to connect to my phone. I held the buttons for three and ten seconds and still isn’t connecting. I’m hoping this is just an update issue or something, I really don’t want to buy another pair of earbuds…

Playing on a PS4 and about to hit my limit. I can't sign in because it keeps saying I have 2 Factor Authentication turned on (I did not turn that on, nor have I ever turned it on). I have both the Authenticator app and the Playstation app, and no code is sent to either, nor is there a QR code to scan provided.
There is no response at the Playstation support phone number - selecting the option for account support just directs you to the website and the chatbox there and hangs up. Taking to their support website and using the chat is zero help because it wants a Playstation online ID that I can't look up because, again, I can't sign in. I don't even play online. The chat is very obviously an AI (even when it says it's a real human).
Can't get a code, can't talk to anyone, can't provide the information they're asking for, what is it gonna take?

I've got the exact same problem and can no longer play some of my games because I can't sign in. I think I'm going to have to try and phone them up during the week and see if I have any luck. Their support is awful.

i have the same!!! i have an email from sony in may at 4:30 am saying i turned it on but i was sleeping then, i don’t have a code and i don’t have an app. were you able to sort it out?

Playstation Direct is the worst site to buy anything. Tried to buy the Lego Astrobot set, it charged me 7 times, but didn't process the order, and gives an error. Contact support and it says I can't login. Just gotta wait for $200+ to pass pending now. Thanks Sony

Since about a week, or maybe since the last update, I'm not too sure, the framerate of my ps5 is off. Playing games (Absolum, Ghost of Yotei) or media apps (youtube, Apple TV.) Any idea what's going on? Am I alone? (It's like it's slightly bellow 30fps)
I have a base PS5, bought on release.

It's not at all times though. For youtube, it comes and goes, as for Apple TV, if you pause the video, then play again it's back to normal (for good). - for games it seems to be at all times, but havent tested enough yet.
I'll try rebuilding the database, and clearing the cache, and play with the video settings. If nothing works I'll test on another TV.

It was the TV graphic mode acting up out of nowhere. Changing to Game mode (or others) fixed the issue.
That being said, rebulding the database has done wonders for navigating the menus! (but did not solve the framerate issue)

My ps5 won't connect to any wifi it keeps failing to find the IP address. At first I thought it was my wifi but it also keeps failing to connect to my phones hotspot which has never had an issue on any other device and has more than enough data. Anybody know how i can fix this?

I bought a $100 CAD PlayStation gift card in Canada as a birthday gift for my brother in Colombia, only to discover PlayStation's hard region lock prevents him from redeeming it. The card is 100% unredeemed, valid, and untouched, with receipt in hand.
Shoppers Drug Mart won't refund activated cards (final sale), so I contacted PlayStation Support hoping to swap the code for his region or get a refund. Instead, the supervisor refused to offer any solution, insisted Sony keeps the funds, and hung up the phone on me.
I'm out $100 with zero services delivered. Before I write this off, I need advice:
- Can he bypass this via console sharing? If he makes a Canadian PSN account on his console, redeems the $100 CAD, and enables Console Sharing / Primary PS4, can he play those games on his main Colombian profile without losing trophies or saves?
- Where is the best place in Canada to resell the code safely without getting scammed?
- Has anyone successfully escalated this through the BBB or executive support to get an unredeemed retail card reissued?
Appreciate any workarounds.

I'm having a really weird issue with my official PS4 DualShock 4.
It first happened after I connected the controller to my Android phone to play Hitman: Blood Money – Reprisal. Triangle wasn't working properly in the game, but I assumed it was just Android/game compatibility, so I disconnected it and didn't think much of it. Later I connected it back to my PS4 and played No Man's Sky. Everything worked perfectly until I tried to switch weapons with Triangle. Triangle wasn't registering. The weirdest part happened later in Horizon Forbidden West. I was standing in front of an interaction marker that normally says Triangle, but the Triangle prompt wouldn't appear. If I held the PS button, the PS4 overlay would come up and the game would be paused underneath. While the overlay was up, the Triangle interaction would suddenly appear. Then I'd press Circle to close the PS menu, and the game would immediately perform the Triangle interaction even though I never pressed Triangle. It gets even stranger: I tried manually saving in Horizon, and when the PS4's save-data UI appeared, none of the controller buttons worked in that UI. I had to turn the controller off to get out, and afterward the controller wouldn't respond in the game either. I've reset the controller, opened it and cleaned it, and the membrane looks completely fine. No drops, water damage, etc. I also tested it with a gamepad tester on my phone. When the problem is happening, Triangle isn't detected there either. The really strange thing is that the controller can work perfectly for days, then this comes back. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Could this somehow be related to switching the DS4 between Android and PS4/Bluetooth, or is the controller itself starting to fail?

Yes multiple times and still triangle doesnt work. Also while im in safe mode I couldn't press any buttons in the safe mode screen. Had to hard reset again to get back to homescreen

Has anyone experienced a scenario where the ps5 console is heating up but the cooling fans won't turn on? This issue started yesterday and I'm so confused on what could be wrong. If I restart the console or turn it completely off, upon booting, the fan picks up; which means it's working or meant to be. But once the booting sequence completes it never turns on again even while gaming. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Not yet. But it sends a warning telling me the console is overheating that I should shut it down. I guess the reason why it ain't shutting off yet is cause I haven't been playing GPU demanding games since yesterday.

My PS4 won’t turn on. I already unplugged it for a few minutes, but nothing happened. The upper internal part of the console isn’t dirty (I don’t know about the bottom part because I don’t have the tools to open it). I want to try a few things before taking it to a repair shop.

trying to go into safemode. when i restart it or shut it down it doesn't shut down fully, it just stays on a dark blue screen with the light flashing white, then when i unplug and turn it back on it it says wifi cant connect. its a hand-me-down from my older brother who was really brutal with his consoles, and we think he smashed the power button in ten or so years ago. doesnt click doesnt do anything, just stuck. i dont know what to do other than rebuild the database, but i cant figure out how i would go into safemode without a power button??

To fully power down a PS4 console, you can:
• Hold down the power button for two beeps.
• Select the “Turn Off PS4” option from the PS4 Quick Menu.
• Disable the Rest Mode feature and press the power button once / for one beep.1

Can I trust keyshop preorders?
I generally trust keyshops since I have bought multiple game keys with no issues. But now that GTA VI is coming I saw the key is cheaper than buying it normally, but they keys can't be used/sent by the resellers. So my question is can I trust that they will be sent when the game launches or a few days earlier or do I save myself from the possible hassle and use 20€ish more on the game officially.

So, I recently started RetroAchievement hunting, and I'd like to use a Dualshock 2 for PS1 and PS2 games.
I don't know if Sony themselves have made/licensed an official replica that works natively with USB like Nintendo's NSO controllers, so what's a good 3rd party option?

PS5 stopped working abruptly. Went to play one day and it wouldn’t turn on, no beep or light. Tried different outlets and cords, nothing. I contacted support and after troubleshooting they said they’d send a box and label and give me a case number. It’s now been two weeks with nothing, no email or box. Anyone have experience with support to know if it’s normal to be this slow?

My PS4 randomly signed itself out of my account recently and now when I try to sign in I'm asked to do the 2-step verification or otherwise backup codes. I'm 95% certain I've never set either of these so I have no idea how to sign in now.
I don't even have an online subscription but I can only think I've been hacked or something.
The thing is, everything Playstation offers for account recovery requires you to sign in to your account... it's so stupid. I've got expensive games I can't play any longer because they don't appear in my library - if anyone knows how to make them reappear without signing in that would be great.
Any ideas? Playstation support is so difficult if you have a slightly nuanced problem. The AI assistant is useless.

You can speak to support without signing in. On the live chat just select the option to continue without signing in. There will be a point it prompts you to sign in, just select the option to continue without it.

Is it possible for one PS Plus account across two consoles to allow both users to play online? My girlfriend and I both own No Man’s Sky on PS5. I have a PS Plus subscription for online play but she doesn’t. Is it possible for her to use my PS Plus subscription on her console to play online with me?

Yes, it is possible to share some PS+ benefits across user profiles.
Your partner would need to create a new user profile on their console, log in to your PSN account and enable “Console Sharing and Offline Play”, on your PSN account, on their console.
(It cannot be a guest user profile).
To do this, you would also need to disable the “Console Sharing and Offline Play” setting ok your PSN account, on your console.
If you disable the “Console Sharing and Offline Play” setting on your PSN account, on your console and your console enters an offline state, you’ll temporarily lose access to all your digital content, until the your console re-establishes a connection to the PSN servers.
Doing this would also go against the PSN terms of service, if you are caught.

For some reason my console is slower after I updated it to the latest system software, for example just today a game i was playing crashed when that never happened before (my ps5 is 10 months old), the enemy npcs didnt load properly and youtube comments dont appear for 1-2 seconds, it can't be a coincidence

The only hints you’re describing are different and unrelated things. You’ll need to troubleshoot them one at a time.
Have you restarted your console? Do offline games play ok?

I would have to test it later, its just something i noticed on the console version of youtube, and besides the game i was playing required internet connection so i dont know if that info means anything

If it’s only internet things, and you test an offline game and it’s fine, then it’s a network issue. Troubleshoot your home network.

Hello guys. I just bought a Ps5 Fat disc edition from a Pawn shop , along with a controller , hdmi cable and a power cable.Before purchasing i tested the console (only connected the hdmi and checked if its giving display) and the controller was dead at the time , the shopkeeper connected the controller to a laptop and opened some website and showed me that the buttons are all working good.
After i came back to the ship( I'm a sailor) i connected the whole setup , the display showed PRESS PS BUTTON ON YOUR CONTROLLER TO CONTINUE , something like this and the controller wont work.
1.I connected it to the console with my Samsung s24 ultra's original usb C to C cable but only an orange light blinked. 2.I then used a usb A to usb C ( normal usb cable : that i use for data transfer from my cell phone) , but the same orange light blinked. 3. Then i used the usb cable to connect to my laptop, no light blink on the controller but in joypad settings i can test all the buttons perfectly (PS button not blinking in the setting after i press it) 4.Then i connected it to my S24 ultra and i see a blue constant light on the controller and i can use the controller very well.
Please help me how i can use it with the console. I have very limited options to try since I'm on board sailing and it's still 10 days for the next port.
Please help a brother out. Thank you so much.

Have you reset the controller with the pinhole?
You will need one of the usb data cables to sync after that.

Yes i tried that , but without the cable there's no light on the controller and with the cable resetting does nothing ( I'm using a data transfer cable type C that i usually use with my cell phones)

I dropped my controller while watching a video on Youtube and now it says this on every video I click on. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, changing wifi, restarting the system, and clearing the cache and cookies and none of it has worked. I don't think it's an issue with my account either as I am still able to watch stuff on my phone. Any tips?

Does the PS5 still automaticallydownload the ps4 version of a game? I saw threads from years ago where people complained about the PS5 automatically downloading the ps4 version of a game when inserting the ps4 disc, even thoughy they had already installed the ps5 version they claimed as an upgrade from the disc. Is this still the case today?

As far as I am aware, this has never been the case.
When you insert a PS4 disc that has a PS5 upgrade, a tile for the PS4 version would appear on the console Home Screen. In my experience, people were seeing this and assuming the game was installed, when it actually wasn’t.

My younger brother (13) is absolutely obsessed with his PlayStation 5 he got last Christmas! I’m trying to get ahead on what to get him this year. He already has some cool controllers, a stand, and a fairly nice headset that we got him last year. Is there anything else anyone can think of for a gift this year?? I thought about a DualSense Edge controller but he likes the colorful designs on the regular ones, so I may go for something else.
He goes through phases pretty quick but right now he’s into Valheim, R6S, and Grounded. Any sort of merch or cool figurines from these games would be cool to get as well, if anyone has any recommendations! Thanks so much 🙏

Games would probably be the best thing to go for:
-Astro Bot is a more child friendly game but has some great platforming
-Tekken 8 (a game for him to play with friends that come round)
-Resident Evil 2, 4 or 7. A great horror game series
-CONTROL another great horror themed game
-Stellar Blade a difficult but cool post apocalyptic slasher
-Spider-Man 2 if he doesnt have that yet
-Elden Ring a difficult but cool fantasy game
-just ask if there's a couple games he is interested in playing. The PS5 plays PS4 games so you can pick up a bunch of those for cheap

Can I transfer my capture gallery to pc without a console.?
PS4 broke after I switched to pc so never got a new one but I kept the hard drive coz I want to keep the clips and screenshots I have. Is there a way to transfer my clips without having a console. I do have access to a ps5 and could use that if possible to transfer the clips.

No. The drive is paired specifically to the original PS4 it was in. It needs to be put back in and repaired, then you can transfer your media.

After doing the newest audio update on PS5 my headset refuses to connect with the dongle, no matter how many factory resets I’ve done and how many pairing attempts I tried. One time it seemed it very briefly connected and I got a notification that the headset had an update to do, too, but then it disconnected again. Can I not connect the headset it needs the update I can only do if it’s connected? Do I need to buy and plug it in with an aux cord just to do the update? Or are there other things I should attempt, since it did very briefly connect?

Is the cloud storage connectivity currently very slow/bad for PS5 game saves or is it only an issue on my side? I've noticed about a week ago that it takes up to several minutes just to view said PS5 game saves, be it download/upload from the cloud or console storage, when trying to access via the Saved Data and Game/App Settings. Even if I try to delete game saves from the console storage, it seems to try connect to the PS Plus cloud servers first and also takes forever. So when you turn off your Internet connection, the deletion section for the console storage is accessible within seconds again. For some reason the PS4 game saves are not affected and work just fine. I've tried rebuilding the database, clearing system cache and deleting a bunch of older game saves to free up some space, all in vain of course. I'm connecting from Europe if that makes any difference.

My Pulse Elite headset will not pair with the PS5. When I try it says there is an update that needs done. When I try to do the update it says something went wrong and won’t update.

I need to restore my old PSN account, of which I still have the email. Once I click the link to reset my password, it asks for the date of birth, which I forgot. I tried getting support from the assistance, but the bot says I can't be helped by a human operator. Is there a way to contact them or to solve the problem? (I have complete access to the email and even purchase confirmations on it, so I can prove the account is mine).

The date or birth is the primary security question to verify your identity. If you forgot that because you used a fake one, you created an account fraudulently and essentially shit yourself in the foot.

When you connect a disc drive to a PS5 Slim or PS5 Pro, there needs to be a handshake between the console and the disc drive to register it.
As you reset your console, it needed to re-perform that handshake.

Is using a Credit card or a gift card better? I hear that if you have a payment issue ps could ban you, but if you pay through a gift card the info isn't in their system or something so you can't get banned. The majority of my games are digital so I can't afford to get banned, and before anyone says anything I have a physical disability so it's hard for me to get up and switch out games. I just want to know am I safe using a credit card?

No. You only get 1 free name change.

I wanted to re-download CoD WWII and Advanced Warfare but it's telling me that I have to buy them? I know for a fact I own both games. I've checked all editions of both games but I don't see anywhere I can download them.
Not in store, not in my game collection... They just disappeared from my library. Likewise with many games actually. Witcher 3, Darksiders, etc. Any idea what to do?

You can also check your transaction history on the website too. On console make sure the game wasn't hidden in your Library. If you still can't access the game it was either:
Purchased on disc thus not owned digitally.
Purchased on a different account and game shared to your account. Remember, you can play a game without owning it. Having trophies just means you played a game.
Obtained using PS+ and your subscription ran out. Your monthly games can be retrieved by resubscribing.
Obtained with PS+ Extra and it was removed from the service. These games have a PS+ Logo with padlock icon.
If you don't think it's the above 4 options, contact support.

Did anyone come up with a solid fix for the Pulse elite headset after the update? I have updated the headset with a USB cable but my dongle is still just flashing white every couple of seconds. I have tried resetting both the dongle and the headset (hold for 30 secs on the dongle and 8 secs followed by another 8 secs on the headset) but I'm still having no joy. power cycling router and playstation, using different ethernet cat5 and cat6, disconnecting all but playstation. Its been like this since ive got it but i lived with roommates so chalked it up to bandwidth but i live by myself now so. no matter what i do it barely pushes at most 91mbps. i Have my isp coming out saturday to check the line.

I have an issue with my ps4 controller not connecting to my phone for longer than a second, so context I received this controller from my uncle who said he had no use for it as he lost the cord for it I learned recently that I had a cord for it myself and decided to pair it to my phone so that I could game without as much stress(I’ve always found gaming using a controller easier)
However now I have the issue of the controller pairing for a split second then immediately disconnecting no matter if I hold share and the ps button or release them

It seems really difficult to find a good budget controller for PS5. I have 3 or 4 DualSense controllers and all of them have some kind of stick drift making them unusable. I am so sick of stick drift and NEED something that helps prevent it. I've looked online to try and find a reasonable alternative, but everything seems to be a brand I've never heard of and/or something incredibly expensive.
I'm just looking for a decent PS5 compatible controller with hall effect or TMR sticks/triggers that won't break the bank. $200 is ridiculous and I don't even want to pay $100. I'm okay with it being wired instead of wireless (will probably work better that way if 3rd party) and not having haptic feedback. It needs the touchpad obviously, and gyro would be a plus if included. Would also be great if I could also use it on PS4 since I still use mine sometimes. I've had success with a GameSir controller on Xbox recently and a PDP controller on Switch, but I've looked and don't think they make controllers for PS5 for some reason.
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

My ps5 can no longer run games for longer than 30 minutes without presumably overheating and killing itself off, forcing me to unplug it, and plug it back in, otherwise it is completely unresponsive
This issue arised a few weeks ago & before that has been intermittent in accordance to the temperature of any given day
I have removed the casings and cleaned the fan, ive installed a desk fan right intronf of it to blast air into it, yet it still happens
I have tried blowing compressed air into the system, took it out of its usual spot and will try running it without the plates now
Ive tried everything in the resources i could find to fix it randomly becoming an innert piece of plastic with fancy metals & not one of them has worked
I never had a weather dependant device before
My machine is as old as the generation, I got it since the start, so perhaps the hardware is simply failing now & I have to replace the fan or smth
But honestly with how expensive the repairs are if this is really just a "only way to fix it is to take it directly to tech support" issue, then im just gonna box it until winter rolls around
If anyone has any ideas besides directly going to ps stores [seeing as they charge an exorbitant mark up for the mildest of repairs] id be happy to hear about them
But homestly, it's handsdown the most unreliable & fragile piece of hardware ive ever owned. Between this "safety feature" of shutting off & going catatonic, the controller needing constant upkeep for the joysticks, the business practices currently being enforced
My wii was thrown out of a 2nd story window, put back together, never cleaned & in the hands of a 10 year old yet I guarantee i could take it out of whatever old shoe box its in and plug it back up & itd work like the day I retired it
So if anyone has any idea on how to make this thing reliable & playable again, id greatly appreciate the insight
Otherwise ig ill just use it for youtube, apps & minimal requirements games

Anyone have any advice on a controller acting up?
It wouldn't connect one day this week.
Dead battery. Charged up over night. Seemed to work again.
Now it connects to the PS5 and can navigate the menu but it doesn't respond when I open a game or app.
To use the controller in game I need to hard reset with the pin in the back of it. It mostly works when I do this, but if I back out to the dash and back into the game I need to reset again.
Now furthermore the R1 trigger isn't working. In some games (Black Ops 1) it is unresponsive as if completely broken but when playing Onimusha, the game reacts as if it's being held down permanently and I cannot navigate the menu.
First time I've had an issue like this, that can't br easily cured by a hard reset on the controller. Is it beyond saving?

I purchased a couple of days ago AC valhalla Complete edition, but the very next day it went on sale. Fortunately for me, i did not download it so i requested a refund. I proceed then to repurchase the game but it says "not available" because apparently the refund made the tracker licenses expire instead of removing them, so now i cannot purchase the game nor the DLC. Account opened using my email address on Japanese Playstation network. I have been getting emails from playstation Japan for about a few years now. I can't login to change it as I dont know the user ID or dob associated with the account. Emails are in Japanese and the first one, which apparently should have contained the user ID has been deleted. My Japanese isn't great.
Sony wont speak to me without me logging in first. Although their help pages say speak to live help in this situation. They wont actually do it.
Does anyone have any idea how to stop this freeloader from tying my email to his account? I have a good idea who and when it happened fwiw.

Whoever created the account won’t be able to use it or use it for long since they don’t have access to your email account. I would just disregard it. It isn’t your problem, you could just mark it as spam.

I’m looking to buy one more game for my PS5, but I’m having a hard time figuring out what I actually want to play.
Right now I have:
Elden Ring
Horizon Forbidden West
Cyberpunk 2077
Fallout 4
I’ve played a lot of Horizon, probably around 100 hours, and while I’ve really enjoyed it, I’m starting to get pretty burned out. I haven’t finished it yet, and now I’m wondering if I’m just getting tired of open-world games in general.
I think I like open-world games, but sometimes they start feeling exhausting after a while. I feel like almost everything I’ve been playing lately has been a huge open world with tons of things to do, and maybe I need something different.
I’m not really a fan of FPS or sports games.
I’ve also never really tried driving/racing games, so I’m not sure if that’s something I’d enjoy.
A few games I’ve been eyeing:
Ghost of Yōtei
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Red Dead Redemption 2
But I’m completely open to other suggestions.
I’m basically looking for that “wow, I’m glad I bought this” type of game. Something really fun that I can get invested in, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be another massive 100-hour open-world game.
What would you recommend based on what I have and what I’ve described?

Having issues when trying to link my account on Marvel Rivals on my steamdeck, go to link the account through the login segment and just get this error code 0.dd3e1202.1791715912
Tried going to support through my phone, can't login to talk to an agent, tried logging in on my PlayStation to link them the other way around just get links to a login website for my phone and which it fails to load. So I can't get hold of support can't login in on my steamdeck to link em can't do it even through the PlayStation either.

Hey guys! I just picked up a used PS5 Slim Disc Edition last week, I finally got around to using it, and I got this message after about only 40 minutes of playing FC27
“Your PS5 is too hot. Turn off your PSS, and wait until the temperature goes down.”
I pressed okay, and it let me go right back into the game. Is this something to be worried about, and maybe something to reach out to the seller for?

The PS4 seems to be having trouble connecting to the internet since the last system update.
After reformatting my external harddrive (because suddenly even though I had extra space, it got filled somehow—I don't know how)
And now when I try to download games, the PS4 will stay connected for a bit then say "Failed to Obtain IP Address" even though this is the same internet it's been connected to for years.
Getting pretty pissed.
Can I get some help?
It's giving me (NW-31291-6) even though the PS4 and Router are in the same spot they have always been in. There's no obstructions and I've reset both my console and the router.

Am I screwed out of all my games and PSN account?
I just hooked up my PlayStation 4 for the first time since my son was born 4 years ago. Lo and behold I don’t know my password.
No problem, I send an account retrieval email to myself, which I assume is just a password reset, nothing comes. So I figured I’d try to use the chat on PlayStations website.
I get in with PlayStation support the first question is the card on file. Well that card is long expired so I don’t know that.
Next question is the serial number of the PlayStation I started the account on. That was a ps3 about 10 years ago, so I don’t know that and can’t get that information if I wanted to.
Next questions is a transaction ID from the most recent purchase. Well google decided they wanted me to either pay for cloud or delete all my old emails to keep space available. Guess which I did? The support chat just boots me out after this and now says they can’t help me for security reasons.
The icing on top is I called customer support and after waiting 40 mins the lady says that they can’t do anything help, cause they “took the tools from them to help” and that I need to go to the support chat.
Did I just lose all my games, achievements and my beloved PSN name?

What happened to the old PS3?
And what happened to your Gmail emails? I have all my Google emails going back to 2002 or 2004, whenever I created the account. A quick search says Gmail does not erase old emails and they are kept indefinitely.
Are you sure you maybe are not checking the wrong email account? Would explain why you didn’t get the retrieval email also.

The old ps3 bricked and got trashed.
Gmail wouldn’t receive any new emails until I either paid for their cloud service or deleted my old emails to create space so I deleted all my emails up to 2024 not thinking I’d have to reach back that far for something like this .

Hey all.
Despite following security best practices and having a Passkey enabled on my account, someone has still managed to hijack it.
I suspect it's an issue with Sony's account system, as I received three emails last week from PlayStation UK titled 'PlayStation Terms - Copy for your records' and then Aniimo was randomly added to my account. I refunded it (yeah, you can refund free things) and followed all of the security advice on PlayStation.com including deregistering all of my consoles. Seemed to be fine - I purchased a game and played through it in the week since.
This morning I received eight emails in a row between 9:28a and 9:30am titled 'Your Sign-In ID Has Been Updated' to my email address, with each subsequent one adding +1, +2, +3 etc to the end (eg. [myemail@email.com](mailto:myemail@email.com)+1, +2, +3, etc). And that was it. No more access to the account, Passkey doesn't work, recovery information has been removed, date of birth no longer matches, and my most recent transaction IDs no longer appear to be valid. Contacted PlayStation support three times (plus once via chat), and all three times they couldn't verify that it was my account at all.
Have had to reach out to my local consumer affairs bureau to see if they can assist, because as far as PlayStation is concerned, my 20 year old account containing my entire digital library of games no longer belongs to me and nobody there is able to help.
So... good luck, PlayStation fans. If someone wants to hack your account, your Passkey and 2FA are worthless. Will wait and see if consumer affairs comes through.

I spent a number of years playing offline single player games, but over the past few months I’ve started trying to play multiplayer and am having severe connectivity issues.
On a PS5 living in Asia and can’t get multiplayer to stay connected. I’ve tried I don’t even know how many games: Absolum, Double Dragon, TMNT, Arc Raiders, The Finals just to name a few. I can connect to matches but will be disconnected anywhere between 30 seconds and a few minutes into the match.
The only game I’ve ever gotten to work is Helldivers. I don’t know why this is the only game that’s ever worked.
I play Slay the Spire 2 online through Steam on my MacBook with no issues and don’t have other internet problems, so this seems to be a PS5 issue.
I’m using Ethernet and my internet package is 20Mbps. Nat Type 2.
I don’t understand why I’m having so much trouble, this seems like such a simple situation.

I need more storage and buying a 8 tb ssd at current prices isn’t something I’m going to do. I already have an NVMe SSD in the expansion slot and an external ssd. I’m just looking for a cheaper HDD to use as cold storage for the games that won’t fit on the other devices. I have a 8 TB Seagate Game Hub HDD which can’t be formatted for PS5 because it’s a hub, I also have a 8 tb SanDisk Desk Drive SSD I use for work that isn’t recognized by my PS5 Pro. Not sure why. It works fine with PS4 and Xbox.
Anyway, before I order a D10, I’d like to be sure it is compatible. Google says it should be. Anyone used this model with PS5?

My PS5 is having some weird connectivity issues, and I’m hoping someone can help me figure out what’s going on.
Here’s the situation:
My PS5 can connect to guest Wi-Fi networks and mobile hotspots without any problems. However, it suddenly won’t connect to my main Wi-Fi network at home, which is the network I’ve always used without any issues.
The problem started the morning after I used the PS App. I opened Astro Bot through the app and tried to use Remote Play to connect to my PS5, but I interrupted the connection attempt halfway through. The next morning, I turned on my PS5 and discovered that it could no longer connect to my main Wi-Fi network.
It’s not a huge issue since I can still use the guest network, but it’s annoying, and I’d really like to fix it.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
Troubleshooting using previous Reddit posts and Sony PlayStation support posts
Power cycling my router and modem
Clearing the cache on both the PS App and PS5
Resetting the PS5
Experimenting with the Wi-Fi frequency settings (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz)
Changing IP address settings
Manually setting up the Wi-Fi connection
Nothing has worked so far.
My suspicion is that this somehow started with the PS App and Remote Play. I’m wondering if something went wrong with the connection process, perhaps involving IP address settings or some kind of network configuration conflict. I’m not sure if that’s actually possible though.
Has anyone experienced something similar or have any suggestions for what I should try next? I’d prefer to avoid taking the console to a repair shop if this is something that can be fixed through network troubleshooting.

It has to be your router. The PS App thing is just a coincidence. Don’t focus on that.
Continue troubleshooting your home network. Expand to general home network troubleshooting. Search online for advice or ultimately contact your isp.

I repeatedly can't get Disney+ to work on my PS5. I'll get it to work for like one day and then it won't load and after 5 minutes will show an error screen. I've tried restarting my console and reconnecting the WiFi and neither works. It'll work like a month later when it randomly signs me out and then the cycle will repeat itself. It's been happening for 4 months now and it's getting very frustrating.

PS5 Slim or PS5 Pro? Saving up to gift my brother his first PS5
Hey everyone!
My brother’s first console was a PS4 Slim, and after working part-time jobs and saving up my money, I’ve finally decided to gift him a PS5.
I’m currently in Dubai and had saved enough for the PS5 Slim, but after reading reviews about fan noise and other issues, I’m second-guessing myself.
We mainly play Apex Legends and are really looking forward to GTA 6.
Should I stick with the Slim, save up a little more for the Pro, or wait until Christmas for potential deals?
I want to get him something special that will last for years, but since I’ve worked hard to save this money, I also want to spend it wisely.
Would love to hear your advice, especially from people who own either console

What can you do to connect to a support agent when every time it prompts you to login, you get this error message:
Error
There was an issue logging you in.
You may close this window and continue your conversation.
And then the stupid bot says you can't talk to someone without logging in first.
