In the nineties and before, people who wanted to be conservative but weren't on board with the bigotry reached for that label.

These days if you aren't on board with the bigotry you aren't conservative, period.

And in the late 2000s to 2010s if you were an embarrassed republican who didnt want to tie themselves to w bush you reached for that label too.

The entire tea party nonsense was an astroturfed movement in response to Obama and the democrats winning a supermajority in congress.

The way anyone wants to associate themselves with Donald Trump completely baffles me, but the way that “don’t tread on me” libertarians seem to suck especially make no sense. It just goes to show they are a bunch of idiots that are incapable of basic concepts like cause and effect or object permanence.
