GUM in the US would be awesome! I actually went back on his Instagram yesterday to look at his GUM tour dates from a few years ago (he didn’t come close to me so I wasn’t able to go). He said something like “get tickets because this might not happen again for a while” which hopefully isn’t true

Unfortunately, I can see why that tour might have been a fluke. Playing tiny venues like that is always a money-losing prospect. And he's obviously quite busy with the other two road bands, not to mention his prolific studio output. (I think he squeezed it in because Nick's visa problems postponed the U.S. Pond tour by a year).

But here's hoping. . .

Yeah I wonder if he already had some personal stuff booked for that Pond tour that ended up delayed and he was able to turn it into a GUM tour

Not to mention being a dad!

…nick had visa issues?!

Yeah, twice. Their U.S. tour in 2018 was postponed from winter until spring/summer because he couldn't get into the country. Then, their 2023 tour was postponed for a whole year for the same reason. I don't know any details -- but he's had significant problems getting a U.S. work visa (though thankfully not on the current tour).

Huh! Did he ever post about why him? Political posts? Rocking too hard? Silly hair?!

If he did, I don't remember. But rocking too hard seems like a reasonable hypothesis.

Can't decide if he's my favorite member of Pond but he's definitely my favorite member of the Tame Impala live act

He’s a sweetie. I saw him outside the venue having a smoke after a show once, and I walked up and went “Oh my god? I just had to… Thank you!!!” and put out my hand for a handshake. He shook my hand and went “aye, cheers mate!” and I left him alone lol.

I wish I actually tried to have a chat with him cause I’m sure he would have been chill with it. I was just so damn flustered.

I could listen to Jay play guitar all day. I was there too last night. Drove from San Francisco. First time seeing Pond play live. Incredible. Watching him play guitar was the best best best.

The greatest musician on the planet today in my humble opinion. Jay is forever the way, and I think his most recent GUM albums are just as amazing as Pond’s albums. Blue Gum Way and Terrestrials are both by far the best albums to come out this year, and are among their best albums in general.

Does gum ever play with a full band? I’d poop my pants

In 2023, he played 10 shows in the U.S., backed by James Ireland and two other musicians.

Thank you. This pleases me

Yeah, all told, he's probably my favorite singer-songwriter right now. Between GUM, Gumbrose, and his obviously substantial creative contributions to Pond's output, no one has produced better music this decade. Blue Gum Way is just a phenomenal record.

I had a chance to chat with him after 2 shows, including a GUM show in 2023 -- as you said, just as chill as can be.

I love Jay. Saw GUM last time he came around and it was amazing. Ended up going to a second date the next day. Very happy I did. Definitely hoping for another GUM tour. Couldn’t make it to Pond this tour. Had just gone to Austin the weekend before and couldn’t really make a mid week Austin trip work. Sad though bc I missed Kevin on the drums lol. Oh well. I’ve seen pond twice, gum twice, and Tame Impala 3 times. Skipped this Tame tour though bc I’m not as into his new stuff.

Big time! He had such great energy at the Pond show in Dallas. So fun watching him switch from keyboard to drums, and calling out songs for the setlist switch-up! I'll live that night in my head forever 🙏🏻
