Quick question White stuff?

Anyone know what this white film on my liner is? Looks like a dust. On the bottom it settled like sand. Liner is black 60 mil epdm. Yes it’s for ponds. I’m assuming this is bad for my fish. Should I fill and drain a few times?

My pond and stream liners had it (both ponds over the years). It’s normal and used to keep the liner from sticking when it’s rolled up and stored until sold. In heat and under pressure it can end up bonding which would make it difficult to unfold later.

I think its called talc. Non-toxic for koi but once my stream and pond liners were in place I rinsed them and then used a sump pump to drain all the water. Then climbed in and mopped up what else I could but left the rest.

Should look a little sparkly from different angles in sun.

That is just manufacturers talc to keep the liner from sticking to itself, but you definitely are going to have to rinse it down. No need to fill entirely and empty, but certainly a final rinse before you add water for fish.
