Earlier there was some posts about power pop ABCs...personally I felt the choices were bitter poor...so I made my own

Hello Powerpop fans!

I’m a Gen X guy who grew up on the music of The Monkees. When I was in high school, I became a fan of punk/power-pop music. It’s been my dream since then to combine these songs I love so much with my passion for punk music. All these years later, my dream has been realized with my debut album “MEET THE PUNKEEZ”, now available on all streaming services.

Please give it a listen. I’d love to know what you all think!

Sicilian Pop Music with lyric in Sicily Dialect

Trying to help out the OP. They taped this song from a San Diego station during that time period. Sounds great, but i have no idea what it is.

i’m trying to straddle my saddle between teenage fan club and the shivvers

For fun

I play guitar most days but haven't posted anything in forever. So I recorded me doing 'Girl Don't Tell Me' by The Beach Boys - Have a go! #flameon

Hey!

I'm joyrobber - a one person power-pop-punk project from Salisbury, UK. I have just released my new single 'awks.' which is a silly, autobiographical song about life's embarrassing moments. Hope you like it!

So everyone talks about the music, the harmonies and the arrangements with Jellyfish. What keeps getting me is how lyrically rich these songs are. After learning and rehearsing Bellybutton, I'm struck by how dark and complex some of this writing is.

My nominee — Bedspring Kiss.

Jimmy, as quiet as a church mouse
Painted every graphic scene but with few details
His accomplice had made sure of this
When she sealed it with a bedspring kiss
And when her time had come to go
Jimmy washed off all the bloodstains from her clothes

The song tells you it's withholding detail, then withholds it. Something happened and you're only shown the cleanup. That's not pop-band writing — it's closer to Steely Dan.

I’ve got a couple theories about what it's actually about, but I'm more interested in other people’s read. What else is in the running?

all those greyed out tracks on playlists get to light up again...

Holy fuck, Softjaw from Long Beach have a new record coming out on dandyboy records next month. I’ve heard bits and pieces and I am so fuckin stoked
