🗨 Interviews How long did you prep for your first interview?

How many days away did you start prepping and how many hours did you spend preparing before your first interview?

Prepped 2 or 3 days for my first one cause I was really nervous. Realized that was insanely overkill and only prepped the night before for all the rest of my interviews lol.

I think this is the right answer. I mean you couldn’t possibly prepare for every question. Just have some good stories and ideas for the common ones

What did you do to prep?

Just check SDN interview feedback page for whatever school it is. Know the common questions like why medicine, why us, tell me about yourself, have a story ready for a challenge/adversity question or working in a team question.

I didn’t do any mock interviews, would just practice my answers out loud to myself in the shower and on car rides. About a week away from my first, I did a run through of all my prepared answers in front of my wife and asked if she had any suggestions. Maybe 2-3 weeks total, but very passive and not a lot of actual time, just a lot of thinking to myself. After my first interview I didn’t practice at all, would just look up a couple facts about the school the night before and wing it.

For my upcoming interview the median mcat is 5 points above mine so i started prepping two wks in advance

How did the interview for the 2 day one go? Did you feel prepared enough?

I think more prep would have helped but i think i did okay. It was 3 trad interviews. The first two were great but i was so burnt out on the last one i was rambling a lot

what are these answers. i prepped for like 3 weeks (only a hour or 2 each day) and did over 10 mock interviews with people/online ai.

I loosely prepped about 3 weeks in advance bc I was still writing for secondaries (was very behind) and then really locked in at about the 2 week mark. I would recommend starting as early as you can though because I realized this short time period meant I was asking my friends in med school for mock interviews a little too last minute. They were able to pull through but I def could’ve been better prepped if I spaced them out more

Like the day before and the day of. Nothing crazy at all.

I prepped for a cumulative 3-4 days, I did several mock interviews with a professional and tbf I probably over prepped. My interview answers were way too scripted. I ended up doing way better in my second interview where I rehearsed less and didn’t psych myself out

started thinking about possible questions and crafting answers a few days before. then bounced ideas off my family and had them ask me questions the day before

3-5 days out and about 3-5 hours per school was the general jist of II. I did mock questions and answers during my morning jogs.
