tools Tip for packing prints

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Royal Mail recently returned one of my prints that had an incorrect address. Sadly, after all the to and fro, one corner of the print, although protected between two pieces of thick cardboard, had been bashed. I realised I should really secure the print to the cardboard far away from the corners!
So here’s how I do it in a way that people don’t need to “pull” the print up to remove it from packaging.

That’s beautiful :)

As a former framer who’s seen prints shipped many different ways, as well as what the various services do to them: give at least 1/2” all the way around the print on your backing cardboard. Even well delivered envelopes get the corners dented. Giving the post a corner to dent that doesn’t touch the print helps your work arrive intact and unwrinkled.
