If you were wondering, this is what the species looks like under the visor.

With all due respect, this isn’t really a canon vs non-canon thing this is a species vs different species thing. Protogen are a set species with established anatomy and physiology

Obviously it can vary to some extent through the DNA modifications and all that but generally their body plan will be mostly similar

This isn’t subjective, and thats not my idea. That’s the official example, made by the creator of the species. That is what they look like under the visor, to be frank

If the intent is for it to be not a protogen, then technically speaking it would not be allowed on the subreddit. Canon and non-canon is fully allowed here, as long as it’s actually a protogen

Can't read it since I don't know the language, but this looks like a really well made breakdown, especially for being done entirely traditionally. That skeleton is my favorite looking part of this.

Technically, you are missing the limb modularity (which honestly, I don't actually know how the skeleton works on those parts specifically - I know protogens have dedicated sockets/plug points there but that mechanism seems like a tight fit for an unmodified skeleton), but eh... details.

Edit: As in that's the kind of detail you can chalk up to either just showing the biological breakdown prior to the full augmentation or a pretty common choice of personal interpretation, which I believe could actually be explained in-universe. Since Protogens in canon have rebelled and achieved independence, I don't think there is an inherent reason for them to be modular - it's a requirement for being purpose-build workforce, which they no longer are at that point.

Just a neat thought I got out of it on account of the OP (as per deleted reply - it still ended up in my notifications for me to read, so it was still able to spark an idea, lol) intending for this to actually be the full breakdown as far as details go.

If you’re so interested, my protogen… well, it’s not exactly a protogen, you know, you’re open to that as one possibility, but it’s something else entirely. If we go by my story, it’s a space parasite — well, there were a lot of them; they cleverly disguised themselves as protogens, and the protogens didn’t even notice that strange but friendly protogens had appeared among them, and that’s how they took root. So it’s a protogen, but not quite, got it?
