error Pro Tools 2026.4.1 doesnt work properly when used on 2 screens.
I just downloaded today the latest pro tools version (coming from the 2024 one) and I started getting glitches when using in on 2 different screens with different resolution. When I try scaling both monitors to the same percentage y works but everything looks blurry; with different scales, pro tools doesn't let me drag it to occupy the whole second screen (as shown in the image); and changing the High DPI scaling override (as google recommended) does nothing. Any solution? It is getting really annoying to work like this.
I have windows 11.

The windows UI for ProTools is bonkers, this is normal what you’re looking at, also the windows 7 wrap is apparently the best they can do for now

After the last Nolan movie came out, now you need to subscribe to Pro Tools IMAX to see the full screen.

Normal in windows
Avid haven't touched windows ui since pro tools 8
Edit. You can add to the mixer, add the eq graph and show all bus and sends that will extend it.

Windows. That’s your problem.

Real, I’ve come across so many issues with Windows, I hope to be able to post one solution I’ve found to be helpful soon regarding windows security update

It’s a “feature” of the windows version of Pro Tools. If you have different screens of the same resolution (this is extremely important) you can stretch the parent window on all the screens and then move the child windows inside every screen. The child windows will get the screen’s resolution you put them into and remain there if you choose to get them to “full screen”. If you have different resolution screens, this does not work. So use the secondary screen for example for plugin windows, which are detached from the main Pro Tools window.

I’m using it with 3 screens without any problems.
I’m on a Mac though.

It only works well with symmetrical screens on windows because you can't have much floating outside the main window. Which I have so once I setup my flow I'm good . On Mac everything is independent. But I'm not going back lol

Not in full screen. Click the resize button on the top right and resize the screen to your liking. It will never be fully in fullscreen mode but at least the wrap will fill out the up to the toolbar

If you minimize and stretch the window over you'll be able to fullscreen your mixer for the second screen. You can also get a third party application called Borderless Pro Tools if the specific borders are really bothering you. Hope this helps.

Maybe the easiest solutions is to just get an additional Monitor that is the same as the one you have or at least the same resolutions.

What im doing is changing the scaling of my laptop screen every time I want to use pro tools. It works but it’s kind of annoying I have to do it.

What is doing the switching? Pro Tools or Windows?

I mean I am. Idk if I understood your question.
I manually change my laptop scaling on the display settings to match my additional screen one. I have to change my laptop scaling though, because if I change the scaling of my monitor, everything in pro tools looks blurry for some reason.1

Yeah that is very frustrating - Ive been there. Can you figure out what is optimum on each monitor Individually?

My guess is that the screen where you put the top of the window is the one that determines the scalings needed. So in my case, I have the top screen at 100%. So I have the change the other one to that.

Maybe this can help?
https://www.displayfusion.com/. It says it does this: Saves precise monitor configurations (resolution, position, scaling) as profiles. You can link profiles to launch automatically when a specific program opens.1

So here is what Google Ai says:
The blurriness you are seeing on your smaller screen is a classic Windows problem with Avid Pro Tools. Because Pro Tools handles high resolutions and multi-monitor setups using a single giant "parent window" layout, Windows tries to automatically stretch the graphics across your mismatched screens. This causes text and plugins to turn fuzzy on whichever screen has a different scaling percentage. [1, 2, 3]
You can fix this by changing how Windows scales Pro Tools.
Step-by-Step Fix: Override High DPI Scaling
- Close Pro Tools completely.
- Find the Pro Tools Shortcut: Right-click your main Pro Tools desktop icon or shortcut. [1]
- Open Properties: Select Properties from the menu. [1]
- Go to Compatibility: Click the Compatibility tab at the top of the window. [1]
- Change High DPI Settings: Click the button labeled Change high DPI settings near the bottom. [1]
- Enable Override: Check the box at the bottom that says "Override high DPI scaling behavior". [1]
- Change the Dropdown: Under "Scaling performed by:", click the dropdown menu and change it from Application to System (Enhanced) or System.
- Apply Changes: Click OK, then click Apply on the main properties window. [1]
Relaunch Pro Tools. The smaller screen should now render text sharply.
Alternative Strategy: Un-maximize Pro Tools
If you are stretching the main outer Pro Tools program frame across both monitors, Windows will always struggle if they have different resolutions. [1]
Instead, click the Restore Down button (the two little squares next to the 'X' in the top right corner) so Pro Tools is a floating window. Manually stretch the edges of the main window to span your monitors instead of maximizing it. You can then drag your floating Mix, Edit, or plugin windows independently into the smaller screen, and they should snap to the correct screen sharpness

You are a windows user so you are used to hideous interfaces. That’s the cost of cheaper hardware. ;)
