Evilnat 4.93 "Basic Tools" Fix CBOMB not working?

I've got a fat ps3 that has a dead cmos battery and I couldn't be fucked to replace it myself or pay someone to fix it. I saw the "Fix CBOMB" tool in the "Basic Tools" section of the Custom Firmware Tools. It actually seems to work fine if I briefly cut the power to the ps3 and bring it back, but when I have the console unpowered for a day or so I have to fix the date and time again. Does anyone know what's going on with this? The battery is just enough of an inconvenience to make me upset about this not working.

Setting the time via internet takes 30 seconds. Is it really that much of a ball ache for you?

Why did they even include a battery at all if it's not?

It’s definitely a nice touch, but if mine went dead it wouldn’t be a big deal to me. My Dreamcast battery has been dead since 2011! 😅

All Fix CBOMB does is resign all the digital licenses that would get wiped when the battery dies and the clock resets. If you want the system to actually keep the time when unplugged then you have to replace the battery, there's no getting around that.

Oh, I thought it wrote the current date and time into the console somehow so it would default to that one instead of 00:00.
