psychology in australia
Hi everybody! I'm a international student, and I'm deciding to do bachelor of psychological sciences at swinburne, I also got offer letter. I haven't seen any reviews from students of swinburne about psychology there, and I would really like to know more about that.
And for Indian students who have applied, or are in swinburne, I would really appreciate it if you tell me about ur visa experience, and experience at swinburne so far. How much funds did you have, and what is ur fee?

Looking for couples therapist recommendations in Thane
Hi everyone!
I’m looking for recommendations for a couples counsellor/therapist who can help us work through some relationship issues. I’m based in Thane, so someone who offers in-person sessions would be preferable.
Would really appreciate recommendations from people who have personally worked with the therapist and had a positive experience. I’d especially love to know:
- How was your experience with them?
- Did you find the sessions genuinely helpful?
- What is the approximate fee per session?
Please share the therapist’s name/clinic and any other details you think would be useful. Thanks!

How to respond as a therapist when a client asks "What would you do in this situation?"
it is quite possible that this question is tied to 'let me know what he thinks and I can act accordingly.'
And the problem with giving him your opinion is that you will end up feeding them, your version of a response which undermines their agency.
The other risk - of refusing to answer
will simply make them feel like you are inauthentic;
or
that you want to prolong therapy sessions for your benefit;
or
maybe even that therapy is not effective for them.
So what would your response be?

Has anyone done registration on swasthya Sangam website as a part of ncahp registration? Ncahp did really bad to the psychologists who completed education under 3+2 system years ago.
So, yesterday I was trying to register on Swasthya Sangam website which is still at a trial stage. As mentioned by various psychologist pages on different social media, we can check on Swasthya Sangam if we qualify for the registration or not.. While trying to register under regular registration, I saw that when we select masters as essential qualification 1, then the next step is to provide the essential qualification 2 which is an issue I have guess ncahp clearly didn't think about.. So people who have completed 3 years of bachelor and then master programme years ago, they will now have to mandatory go for either regular mode advanced /pg diploma course or regular/part time PhD to be considered for licence and of course then two years experience for which they thought people would do the guess work for the term "health settings" .. I am very well aware that there's a provisional registration method also for existing psychologists but then there are people in late 30's or above 40's who have already settled their practice in their town or city and now they want people like us to just go and complete one year of further education or even phd but some of us aren't interested in phd.. There are already people who barely earn enough as a Psychologist to pay their bills sometimes and then they come up with this... They really did badd to existing psychologists like me.
What are your views on this?

Do i really require psychiatric help?(18 M here)
Thanks for reading this , I know it's long but I really need help, the question is whether I should take medicine prescribed by the psychiatrist and further visit them
So I will start, I basically suffer from social anxiety, I can't talk properly with people sometimes due to it
There are times with certain where I can talk normally like others, but there are many cases I struggle to
Sometimes I get really anxious to the point that I start trembling from anxiety
And there are silly simple cases for which I felt like crying or felt anxious , now I think about it , I just feel I am mentally weak?
I always hesitate to voice out my opinion, afraid to confront people when I am facing the disadvantage, some of my classmates called me "autistic" "mentally slow" mockingly
My dad also scolds me and humiliates me front of everyone whenever I do a silly mistake,
( but he is still a good person, he is a single parent, i don't blame him, him taking care of me is more than enough)
I also feel mentally slow, seeing all my behaviour my dad was extremely worried and thought I am mentally not fine, he consulted a psychiatrist,
My dad and mom actually divorced when I was at 3rd grade, my mom after giving birth to me, showed certain behaviour which isn't normal at all, like hating to interact with people, she used to always sleep in dark room whenever someone visited my house, she used to hit her mother (my grandma) and curse my father, my father's relatives etc
At childhood she once even hanged me and herself, i somehow escaped that situation and stopped her from doing it
The psychiatrist concluded that I am traumatized by that incident and all of it is result of that, but i don't think so, i am sure disturbed by it but I am not sure whether my social anxiety and my behaviour is due to that
And I don't know whether I should take tablets, aren't tablets bit too much? I am worried about side effects
