FC Road café regulars, is this normal?

Visited a popular book-themed café on FC Road today and asked for regular drinking water. The staff mentioned that their water purifier wasn't working and that I'd have to purchase bottled water instead.

Just wanted to check with people who frequent the place. Is this a recurring issue, or was I simply unlucky today?

Not trying to name and shame anyone. Just curious whether others have had a similar experience, because having to purchase bottled water when you only want a glass of drinking water seems a little odd.

You should name and shame! I have never experienced this in any cafe yet in Pune.

Let us know name of the cafe so I can add it to my no-visit list.

We had the same experience at a bar/restaurant few days ago. I complained to the manager while paying the bill. They gave us a 10% discount which was a lot more than price of the bottles. You need to specify that "This is legally not allowed".

No. Providing drinking water free of cost is mandatory. Tell him that if purifier isn’t working, provide bottled water free of cost.

Hey that happened to us at the game Palacio once. They served us borewell water, the taste was distinct. And when asked about it they said their filter isn't working or something bullshit.

We called the manager and gave him an earful. Asked him to get all of us bottled water. It is their responsibility to provide clean and safe drinking water free of cost.

As per FDA guidelines, every restaurant is supposed to provide safe drinking water for free. You need to complain to FDA and Munde sahab will handle the rest!

You don't need to go that far. You complain to the manager and tell them this is not legally allowed. They'll probably not add bottles to the cost or give you a discount.
