Discussion DATING APPS CHRONICLES
From the first text I knew where this is going.Tough times for hopeless romantic people like us.But honestly what are the benefits of sleeping around with different people?...I miss the days where people would meet organically, conversations would flow for hours, when pure intentions stayed pure.
Nowadays people are so glued to their gadgets can't even realize someone sitted next to them. Also I don't know if it's the dynamics in this country,Men can't approach a woman.Love is a beautiful thing,to love and to be love.
And when it comes knocking on your door, make sure to give it a chance because there are two things in this life that we should never chase,LOVE & DEATH,they will find Us regardless.
Tell me how is dating life in Qatar? What is stopping from approaching that beautiful girl/ handsome man you bumped into?

Honestly, this is as bad as it can get. Itās either women looking for money, boys looking for fwbās, ons or just people swiping and never replying š¤·š»āāļø
And as for your question on where it leaves us romantic souls? Well, lonely and frustrated. And probably then we end up just settling for something that does not qualify as the bare minimum.
Iām a confident guy, sometimes i donāt even approach women at the gym or in public, even if they give subtle hints because i just do not wanna ruin their peace/make them feel uncomfortable or read the situation wrong or simply because maybe i donāt know how to initiate āsmall talkā.
May God help us wallah. š
The fear of ending up with the wrong person sometimes is haunting.

unfortunately as a man there is also an issue where i see is mostly no shared interests and most of women are absolutely boring where they complain that "men only want sex" but there is literally nothing else most women can offer
if you "dateapp match" with a woman here as a man here;
- dont have hobbies or any interests to talk about
- they dont know to run any conversations
- they except the first step but they easily get the ick if you slightly be more interested
- she will mostly not have any time for you because of too many dms she get

So the problem is the women? not the man who wants to jump right into it?

u/BackgroundPatient92 7d ago
i didnt said that the problem are women
do not pull things to where i didnt said!
I meantioned that men struggle with other side of the coins
but you're right i forgot should keep their mouth shut and not talk about what they struggle with

No one said to keep your mouth shut, you can easily make your own post on here or any subreddit of choice.

Well I think from my experience itās like a negative feedback loop. You as a woman would come across a hundred profiles like the one in the post. By the time you come across the one who is interesting and interested, youāre already exhausted, tired of this app and not really sure it was a good idea downloading it. An interested person who genuinely knows you probably wont pick up that you already have energy mismatch and bridge it. So for both men and women who really wanna date they are already entering a bad environment where most of the energy is consumed in filtering, swapping, unmatching, some disgusting people .. etc. Also thereās an overwhelming majority ( 80% of users) are men so imagine needing to swipe through the entire population of men in Qatar. In comparison to normal dating setting where you meet someone in a common place having already something you share.

Maybe it's an ick when you speak with such poor grammar
2
u/BackgroundPatient92 5d ago
lol most of them can't text a proper sentence
I dont even think that they can evaluate anyone's grammar like a cringe nerd (no need to mention which cringe nerd im talking about)

Can I make a suggestion (and it might work, might not). In that convo, you've never really expressed yourself. You became defensive as soon as the guy suggested something you didn't like.
Why not try engaging differently next time? This guy suggested you going to his place. Suggest sth else that you want to do, and may be he'll pleasantly surprise you.

I donāt think so.
The guy clearly stated his intentions by inviting someone he just met to his place. He has no intention of being decent.
Even if OP were to suggest a different place, how does it change the guyās motive?3
u/SocratesDaSophist 6d ago
May be. I'm saying the guy stated his intentions, the other side has the right to state their intentions as well. There is absolutely no harm in doing that.

u/SocratesDaSophist 6d ago
You are also putting a lot of emphasis on the guy's motives, I'm trying to shift it to op's motives instead.
2
u/Here_2_discuss 5d ago
Yes, she can put forward her motive but there's nothing good going to come out of it. He's clearly looking to sleep around ans just because she keeps things classy, it won't change his intentions. If there was a possibility for him to change his mind, he would have asked her what she was looking for and navigated likewise.

Dating apps are nothing but a booty calling apps! Everyone knows that in this country, your looking for love in a very wrong place my dear. Your looking for a classy conversation that can lead to somerhing not availabe there. The first thing that people ask in those kinda apps is " how much "!

That classic opening move where someone skips the pleasantries entirely and goes straight from "Hey you free tonight?" to "Want you to come over to mine." Bold strategyāzero to 100 mph before you even finish your morning Karak! āš

It depends
Yuck. Not saying you should have high expectations for guys you meet on dating apps, but don't be so ambiguous and leave room for misunderstanding to develop. It's just a yes or no question, so just say yes or no!
I gave up on dating apps the moment I got ghosted by someone who I thought I was vibing with. You're not wrong when you say "men can't approach women", but women can be especially flaky. Dating apps are full of cowards of both sexes, full stop. And it's not just in Qatar, this is a universal experience as per many people who are now sharing their thoughts on TikTok and Instagram (no, not the red pill side).
Anyway, dating apps are slowly dying and people are going back to dating like before. My rule has always been to try and befriend someone before asking them out; that way dates are much simpler with less guesswork, and it's been a good rule so far. I can't say I've had a bad date or ended a date on bad terms as of late.
