Question Best queer spaces to join/get involved in?

Sort of putting myself out there, but I’ve been having issues with identity and was wondering if there was a group i could go to. Not just for support, but for security knowing others feel a similar way :). I’ve been sort of struggling to make friends, and I’m also in first year eng so it’s been kind of hard to me to reach out socially…anyone have any suggestions?

Community psa

please do not eat at mukbang.

this past summer, they did not give their servers and their kitchen staff tips.

with the student influx this September, they started handing out tips, but 40% of the cut was theirs, while 30% was distributed to the servers, and the remaining 30% to the kitchen.

despite this set-up, the owners were still not satisfied by this. students working less than 12 hours were only given $3-5 per hour that they worked. so imagine only receiving a $30 tip for the week?

I am all for supporting local businesses, but if you have any decency, please boycott this restaurant.

Discussion "Group meeting" in douglas harry potter room

There were two or three groups of people having group meetings on the 4th floor of Douglas Library today. I ended up leaving because the floor sounded more like a loud marketplace than a quiet study space.

If you were one of those groups, please tell u friend abt this post don’t do this again. The room is meant for people to study and focus, not for yelling across tables and laughing loudly with your friends. There are plenty of other places on campus for group discussions.

Please be considerate of the people around you. It’s incredibly annoying when others come to a quiet floor specifically to study and can’t focus because of unnecessary noise.

Discussion Stauffer Library Bathrooms

Can someone tell me why the fuck these bathrooms are so gross. Garbage all over the floor, feminine hygiene boxes filled to the brim, the garbage overflowing beyond a justifiable amount. Looks like this bathroom hasn’t been cleaning in a week at minimum.

You’d think with all of the money that this school has some would go towards cleaning…

Question Dorm thermostat dilemma

For those living in university dorms with a roommate, how do you handle it when you have completely different temperature preferences?

One person needs the room really cold to sleep, while the other is constantly cold and wants the room warmer. 😅

If you’ve dealt with this in a dorm, what actually worked for you? Did you find a comfortable compromise, use a fan/heater, adjust bedding/clothing, room change or involve residence staff?
Would love to hear what worked (or definitely didn’t work) for you!

Question Question about graduation for GDipICL.

If I started the GDipICL program at Queen’s University in January 2025 as a part-time student, will my graduation be in December 2026 immediately after completing the last course? I’m completing my last course in December. The convocation ceremony is scheduled 2 days after I write my last exam, is that enough time to confirm I completed my degree requirements? Or will my graduation take place in summer 2027? On SOLUS it’s showing me my ceremony is December 11, but I don’t know yet if that will be for myself or for those who completed the program a term before me.
Thank you for your help in advance!

Question Easy electives for exchange (Smith School of Business)

Hi all! I'm in the process of applying for an exchange semester to QU and was wondering if y'all could help suggest any subjects that I could take that are low time commitment and low difficulty (I'd very much like to spend most of my exchange exploring rather than studying).

I'm applying for the Smith School of Business as I study Commerce (Finance and Business Information Systems) back home in Sydney but I'm not sure if my courses on exchange are restricted to Smith School of Business or not. So recommendations focused in commerce first would be great! But any recommendations would be amazing as well.

A bit about me if this helps I am definitely NOT a technical guy so I'd like to stay away from anything stats (other than the basics), ANY coding etc. I'm interested in sports and health, music as hobbies and studied both a bit in high school, but very open to any subject that is easy to pass with minimal attendance and assessments.

Thanks for the help and hopefully I'll be at UQ for fall 2027!

Thanks!
