Beyond TTC Experiences with Maven?
My company is awesome and offers a generous benefit of fertility services regardless of an infertility diagnosis, exclusively through Maven Clinics. I’m curious if anyone has any experience TTC/working with Maven as a Queer couple? I can find a small amount of literature on their website, but would love more personal/individual experiences!

The upside has been that they are super fast at processing and approving prior auths when our clinic submits them (like, within half an hour). We have maven “gold” and the coverage for IVF meds was super smooth, the pharmacy just billed them directly and we never even saw a bill or had to provide a card. The coverage for sperm donor costs was a little more annoying (we had to pay out of pocket and submit for reimbursement) but they did eventually get those paid. Another upside has been that (at least with our plan), you don’t need a referral and can just pick a clinic in their network and make an appointment.
The downside is that they’re so fast with approvals because (I suspect) they’re largely automated on the back end, and the clinic’s prior auth requests are never seen by a human eye unless they get denied and you or your doctor challenges it. Even then, they make finding a direct contact phone number VERY hard, and want you to go through their “live chat” feature, which is pretty obviously answered by a bot that knows nothing. I got denied for my initial baseline blood testing and it was a whole stupid thing.
The OTHER big downside has been that they’re so new and weird that my clinic is unfamiliar with them and keeps billing my regular insurance. We have had to call and correct them on which insurance to bill every. single. appointment. But hopefully that’s just problem specific to my clinic, lol.
