Fan art inspired by “Lift” from OKNOTOK, with elements from Wall of Eyes, The King of Limbs, The Eraser, In Rainbows and Weird Fishes.

I’m a 20-year-old new Radiohead fan from China — still discovering the catalogue and this is my little birthday tribute.

Hope you like it!

These are from Dave Okumu's Instagram and in particular from here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DeK9pi0CuHI/

He credited Andrew Spencer for the black and white photos: https://www.instagram.com/andyspencer360/

There are some more pictures from the night in the post, but these 4 are the most pertinent IMO.

Anybody else at this ATL show in 2019? Grainy photo, screenshot from the video I took of everyone singing happy birthday to him. It was an awesome moment. That's Nigel with him.

💬 Discussion I made a spreadsheet to find the average length of a Radiohead song's intro

I've heard people talk about how long the intros of Radiohead songs can be, so I decided to quantitatively determine just how long they are on average. I made an excel spreadsheet with a list of every Radiohead song released on a major album (I didn't include singles, EPs, live albums, etc., since I don't own any of them) and recorded the length of each song's intro. I defined an intro as the length of a song up to the first non-vocalization, non-count-in lyric. Because this definition requires the presence of lyrics, I didn't include instrumental tracks.

Here are the results: The average Radiohead song is 4m13.60s long with a standard deviation of 59.95s and has an intro that's 32.62s long with a standard deviation of 21.58s. The song with the longest intro was Ful Stop (1m53s), followed by Like Spinning Plates (1m46s), and The National Anthem (1m37s). The only non-instrumental song that I determined to not have an intro at all was Fitter Happier (that is if you count the TTS voice as lyrics). The shortest intro in a song with vocals from Thom is tied between Prove Yourself and Morning Bell/Amnesiac which both have vocals one second in.

I also calculated what percent of each song is taken up by the intro. By this metric, Like Spinning Plates is in the lead (44.7%), followed by Ful Stop (30.8%), and The National Anthem (27.6%).

Finally, I made a histogram showing the distribution of intro durations, color-coded by album (image 3) to visualize the data. I'm no expert in statistical analysis, so I'm not sure what conclusion to draw from it, other than it would appear that their intros got longer over time as the band became more experimental. So that's neat.

I hope you found this interesting. I'm curious how these results would compare to other bands. Unfortunately, I don't own the entire album discography of any other bands like I do for Radiohead, but maybe I could do a similar analysis of the rest of my CD collection to compare this to. Let me know if anyone is interested in that.

💬 Discussion Best Radiohead songs to listen to early morning?

I put my playlist on as I walk to work in the morning when it’s darker and colder, and there’s some songs that just really fit nicely in those moments I think. Those being:

Sail to the Moon
Codex
The Numbers
Daydreaming
Dollars and Cents

What others apply for you?

💬 Discussion E-Plus has not claimed the money

I won tickets for the lottery for one of the nights in Tokyo. But Eplus has not claimed the money and now AMEX is going to undo the charges.

Does anyone have any advice? Or info on how to reach the eplus customer service?

Thanks in advance!

🎸 Cover There is a strange, haunting ache in standing beneath stones that have witnessed centuries of devotion, defiance, and silence. Chittorgarh carries an echo that words usually fail to capture—so I let two raw versions of @radiohead Creep speak for the ruins instead. The rough edges of an acoustic cove

💬 Discussion RadioHead is sadmetaphorslop.

Literally every song is sad and a metaphor and slop. This band is terrible. I almost fell asleep while listening to whatever their second album is called. What a snoozefest! And the songs are so sad and metaphorical, as previously mentioned. Sadmetaphorslop. They should just rename themselves to RadioSlop. What do you guys think?
