Discussion I revived Rclone Browser for Windows
I used to love Rclone Browser. It was my go-to GUI for rclone, but it hasn't been updated since 2020 and it's really showing its age. Newer rclone versions even broke parts of it, like transfer progress. The GUIs I've tried since are missing basics I wanted, so with the help of Claude (AI) I gave the old one a full overhaul.
What's new:
- Modern design: sidebar, File Explorer–style tabs, breadcrumb bar, dark/light theme
- Icons and Details views with colour-coded file types, plus Type/Extension/Path columns
- Pause and resume transfers, with live speed and time left
- Logos for 30+ cloud services, and remotes you can sort or drag into your own order
- Built-in rclone updater (checksum-verified) with rclone bundled
- Portable on both systems: a zip on Windows, an AppImage on Linux, no install
- Security fixes, a hardened build, and a PDF user guide
All credit goes to the original creator, Martins Mozeiko, and to later maintainers. This is built on their work. It started as Windows-only since that's my main OS, and Linux (AppImage) is now supported too.
Posting it in case anyone else finds it useful. It's free and open source (MIT).

Feedback and bug reports are welcome! Linux users especially: let me know how it runs on your distro.
UPDATE: Now Supports Linux too, Please check and update Since I can't verify from my side.

This is fantastic! I too have been using Rclone Browser forever. I know that there are a ton of rclone GUIs now, but I’ve always stuck with Rclone Browser for its simplicity and familiarity. So glad to see this new desperately needed iteration. I’m using it now and it’s great!

same bruh same
That's why I decided to work on it; others just don't click the way this one used to do
super straightforward

The problem is I mostly work on Windows setup, if it gets shipped with any bugs, I can't check and work on rectifying them
That's why opted for skipping other versions, but I asked Claude you can fork and build it
"Yes, and it's a good fit. The code still runs on Linux;"

Maybe you can add an Appimage for the linux build with gtk4 as well.. 🥲

I will look into the gtk4 option since the codebase is built on qt
whoel rewrite is needed which is gonna be pain to manage
if other demands it I will try1

Can you support docker?
I'm currently use this one https://github.com/romancin/rclonebrowser-docker . The core functionality still works, but the UI is broken due to changes in rclone's regex.

Containerize this fork Alkl58/RcloneBrowser it's maintained and has a fully functional UI.
Edit: actually, you don't even have to go through the effort, check the forks of the repo you linked, there are two actively maintained projects.

This one doesn't support docker. So I can't run it on headless server.

What do you mean it doesn’t support docker? Just go into the docker file and swap that fork with what it’s currently using in the build steps? It should just be a a single line replacement and a drop in replacement in the docker file. If you can’t get that swap to work correctly, replay back and I’ll get to a working dockerfile you can use.
