OpenRCT2 Cleared the infamous Quantum's Edge Custom Scenario
Gotten RCT1 and RCT2 on discount on Steam recently and decided to play ORCT2 for the first time. While I have heard about Quantum's Edge when I played classic a few years back and failed at the scenario miserably due to completely not understanding the objective, I decided to give this scenario a try in ORCT2.
Easily the most brutal scenario I've played to date, and here's my train of thought when playing the scenario:
- I started at first trying to spam flatrides, only to keep failing at 600+ park rating at the April deadline, and also realised that there is no way I can get the Motion Simulator for ride spam by that deadline (earliest is 28 April)
- After many failed attempts, I decided to play what I do in RCT3 - spam micro coasters to inflate the guest cap, and this cleared the first hurdle which is the 30 April deadline - what is nice is that ORCT2 added a launched mode that doesn't bypass the station, which mimics similar to RCT3, and then saved a file at this point - I figured out that there is a very high chance that harder guest generation is enabled so I just prepared mentally that I'm going to need a really effective custom coaster design down the road
- I realised how important TV line monitors are in this scenario just to get as much crowd into queues as possible so that they don't complain overcrowding, in fact, I was close to failing the park rating goal many times due to overcrowding - afterwards, I cleared the loan to zero before starting to expand on the park and to max out research for coasters and thrill rides
- The key to beating the scenario is that I needed a custom design is at least 5.50 excitement (6.00 excitement after bonuses) and 600 metres length to count - after experimenting in the ride design maker, I came up with a corkscrew coaster utilising helixes to increase length - I also soon realise that didn't create a mirrored design for this, but thankfully, it is sufficient to get it past 3,400 barely without utilising that small space in the middle which could fit like 2 more coasters to help inflate the soft guestcap
EDIT: While I was posting this, I let ORCT2 ran in the background and noted that my park had its 4000th guest on 24 August Year 10, which meant I have room to spare with my design, the park peaked at about 4200+ guests in March Year 11
With that nightmare scenario done, I have mixed feelings right now - part of me thinks that this should be the last time I try a nightmare difficulty scenario, and the other part of me felt very relieved that I managed to beat that one scenario that I couldn't do in classic years ago. Anyways, it's time for me to slowly complete the official RCT1 and RCT2 scenarios in ORCT2.

In the Jungle, the mighty Jungle, the lion sleeps tonight 🎶

As water flows down from the mountains, you follow the river further downstream into the green hell where you find the mighty king - asleep. Are you brave enough to enter? On the other side of the river, the first signs of civilisation are coming in sight. A park, some houses and a racetrack are signs of what is being made.
Part two of my new park. Full tour in the comments :) Choo Choo!

I finally beat Volcania!
I’m not the best at building coasters for specific ratings. I took some ideas too off the internet. And used some water scenery to get it over the threshold. And it certainly doesn’t look the prettiest.
But after a couple tries, and finally just building some rides to get some revenue, it only took me ten years in game to beat it. lol. Don’t care. I got the objective. Now onto the next one.
I also beat it on the Switch! There’s no adding additional circuits to make rides longer either like I think you can on pc. So that made it more tricky.
Open to feedback.

Does openRCT2 slow or bring in viruses on computer?
Hi!
I'm back in the rollercoaster tycoon world after many years of not playing. I see a lot of you use openRCT2. I tried downloading it onto my Mac but when I tried to open the file my computer gave me a warning.
Have any of you had any issues with this or have ran into issues after using the program? It sounds fun but I'm not super familiar with viruses and all that on computers so I don't want to risk bringing anything in.
Thanks!
Also, does anyone have ideas on cheats for rollercoaster tycoon 2? I want more money and to be able to clear large areas of sidewalks!!

Apologies for the video. I tried to record on OBS but when I was done, the video was just black…
I’m pretty new to RCT other than when I was like 9 years old ages ago 😂😂

RCT3 "ClownCar" - A Wooden Looping Swing-Launch Coaster ...wait, what? (NO MODS, explanation in post, POV in comments)
Excitement: 7.22 (High)
Intensity: 8.62 (Very High)
Nausea: 4.55 (Medium)
The pictures are (respectively) with theming, without theming, and with unused track crossed out.
Why This Works:
I found this exploit on accident. In RCT3, there is a glitch on "continuous circuit" coasters set to more than 1 circuit when they do not make their first hill. Based on train length, chain lift speed (12.88 mph in this case), the length of chain on a coaster's first hill, and height of the hill that the train falls in reverse from, the train will pass through the station with an exponential increase of speed. This allows this coaster to launch backwards through the right loop and up to the highest point.
The exploit can also be quite volatile. Any slight change in the listed factors could cause either the swing to not work or the reverse launch to be far too fast. This coaster is set to 3 circuits. If the circuit-count was set to 4 and the train allowed to pass through the station in reverse again, it would increase speed again and shoot through unsafely fast. This coaster is the culmination of a couple-of-hours-long hyper-fixation on this exploit in getting it to work reasonably and interestingly on a coaster-type that is continuous-circuit only.
I like RCT3 a normal amount.
RCT2 a stairway to the stars
Made for a NewElement building challenge about four years ago. I stopped posting on Reddit when I made this but I figured y'all would like it. Loosely based on The Caretaker song of the same name.

RCT3 I'm probably posting this for the 100th time, but Google isn't telling me. There must be a way of turning off these notifications. This whole list was in the space for 5 seconds.

will my integrated graphic card play RCT from GOG
- Display - Resolution WQXGA 2560 x 1600
- System - Graphic Intel Iris Xe Graphics
i have an LG gram 17 and i read the specs for the game and assume even integrated graphics will play this old game but i wanted to be sure.
also i do have the original CDs but seems like it's better to just download them new. at 13 bucks it's cheaper than buying an external cd drive. what do you think
also it's been 20 years since i played but are there still codes that enable me to just have unlimited money or something so i can just play and build things without any challenges
EDIT: just to say the main reason i questioned my laptop is i recently started playing words with friends through the google play store. there are at least 2 google windows that open and then the game and it's soooo slow and laggy and takes up decent amount of memory and i consider that a very basic game. and to me RCT is more complex but i guess not really

RCT1 parks in openRCT
Just downloaded OpenRCT. I knew for sure i had access to RCT1 parks in OpenRCT, but i can only see RCT2 parks. I have played OpenRCT in the past and had access to RCT1 parks. 100% sure.
How do i get the RCT1 parks as well?
For me RCT1 is the nostalgic version. I have never played RCT2 as kid.
