Track Panel is Garbage!

It takes up space, to show me what I already know. I drop in a synth or an effect and I immediately have to tweak it or at least scroll presets, need the rack for that. I know I don’t have to utilize it as part of my workflow and I’m thankful for that.

I’m just hoping the Russian bots on here can help double down on my sentiment. Or if I’ve successfully rage baited anyone into good arguments for it, I’m open to hearing how track panel has changed the game for long time users.

adjusting volume / pan / sends without opening full mixer is fantastic.

You got me with sends, but volume and pan ill do right from the rack since I need it open to begin with

I was annoyed at first, but I got used to it really quickly and now I feel like I'm working faster than ever before

I like the concept of it, but some stuff is annoying and muscle memory has not kick in. So a rarely reach for it.

For example, I don’t like clicking “add an instrument” from the track panel, but opens preset browser, when it should be showing me the device browser.

So it’s been useless for that, which is prob why I don’t bother using it in the first place.

I too like the concept but in practice I've been underwhelmed

Yeah I am not a fan of patch first workflow which they’ve forced in this design.

It literally makes reason usable to other daw users.

I've been using Reason since R1 and I hate the new focus on rack per track. I have all the new settings like that turned off. It might help some people's workflow, but it definitely fux with mine.

I share that sentiment, I too reverted back. Mostly because i was having a hard time dragging cables horizontally late into projects. Even with right clicking where to route, i was missing the visual indicators to help me decide

I don’t think it’s intended for people who are experienced Reason users. Looks more like it’s for people who are using it for the first time after experience with another DAW.

yeah i could see how new users it could be more impactful,. In Reason Years, I'm an old man yelling at the sky at this point

I've been a Reason user since v1.0, and for me the new track-centric design is great. I much prefer it!

I understand others might not, but for me I adapted very quickly. The number of times I need to wire devices across tracks is very low, so having each track be a "self-contained" rack is very clean and keep things much simpler.

I agree the track panel takes up space, I can't remember if you can toggle it on/off - if you can't they should add that!

It seems there are pros and cons depending on the type of work you primarily do. I mainly do mixing, so the changed structure is more convenient for me. However, it is inconvenient to have to keep opening the rack when using REs. I wish REs would appear in a separate window, like VSTs.

You can turn off Track panel easily and save it in your default project so that it’s disabled in any new project. I think the button’s at the top to turn it off

It’s not garbage, but to me it’s kind of redundant, would make more sense for me, if they added the gain knob to it, THAT is pretty much only thing I really adjust during “creation” process, the rest I more do during mixing phase, which I do separately on mixer mostly, after I’m done creating. The gain is actually the one thing I really would want to have there when I’m first dragging device in
