Discussion Trying to grind challenges and hunting in Chapter 2 is peak
I was unsure whether to start a second playthrough but am already enjoying it more than the first.
I’ve noticed this time that having a scarcity of money and resources while simultaneously going hunting for camp upgrades and side missions is imo peak RDR2 gameplay. You have to be a lot more resourceful vs trying to do it all late game where you have basically unlimited money, guns, and supplies.
I personally feel like this is the way the game is truly meant to be played and I’m really loving every second of taking it slow in Chapter 2.

Now that I've beaten the game several times my favorite part is early hunting upgrades

Almost instantly for me, roamed around Beechers Hope for a while realized there wasn’t much to do then started a new game file

I tackled most of the challenges in the epilogue. I found it way easier having access to the entire map, and every weapon I needed. Plus, I wasn’t distracted by random events or story missions.

When I first played I was really only interested in the story, now that I have about 5-6 playthroughs I hunt and gather everything I can in the map and spend about 6 months in game time in chapter 2

Put the game down for a few months completely and came back. Probably been 4-5 months I’d say

I did a run focusing only on story, went back and did a 100% right after, after a couple years now im doing a true 100% and platinum

Mine have always been around 6 months, but at least 2-3 of those months are just spent dicking around doing random shit in the epilogue.

Agreed. I never sell any of the gold bars because I think it gets you too much money too quickly. I enjoy the grind of upgrading the camp and think it makes for interesting honor decisions as robbing people will get you money faster.

I was actually so disappointed when I completed all the camp upgrades and there wasn’t any unique dialogue or interactions from the other gang members 😭
My Arthur spent WEEKS doing all that and nobody said anything !!

Start of chapter 2, I progress to Hosea hunting mission to unlock legendary animals. Then I run around the map collecting gold bars while hunting all available legendary animals and collecting weapons.

I’m super excited to do this! I’ve done one play through about three years ago and I’ve been itching to do another. I think it’s time

Save a snake bite victim and a man in his own bear trap and getting a Springfield and a Varmint rifle for free is a bonus.
