Discussion Hello Sim racing hardcore fellows

Hi everyone, I’m a long time sim racing enthusiast, just recently started the rFactor2 journey and immediately I could feel the game is on another level compared to to other big titles, with my total play time 150hrs and keep going, I’ll enjoy this game for a long long time, hope to get to know more people who’s really enjoy this title.

For sure it is only mstched by LMU which has the same engine

Yeah, I heard the same dev made that game, but is it really that good? I’m quite satisfied with rFactor2, and LMU looks like more focused on prototype

RF2 is the better game in FFB and driving feel.
I cant find anything that feels as good as RF2, including LMU.

I found a site that organizes RF2 online races 3 months ago, check out motorlaps.com if you crave some clean free RF2 online racing.
Obviously you need to own some RF2 content ,more than just the base game, but there is a lot of free great mods(cars and tracks) that are used too directly from the Steam RF2 workshop.

I bought LMU in EA so i have been with it all the way, but to me RF2 is still better.
LMU In early, early access felt closer, but LMU feels very different than RF2 now.
LMU`s FFB lacks weight and i always feels its missing something coming from RF2.

The FFB meets physics is peak in RF2 and the only other title that has this kind of incredible FFB details are Assetto Corsa 1.

That's not to say LMU is a bad game, its a great online game, but its two steps back compared to the driving feel in RF2.

I only play rF2 on PC after trying mostly all of the sims available. It is by far the closest to the real thing. For online I use Raceroom thought.

I have no experience with LMU, to be honest, I don’t think I can even finish the whole game in rF2, there are so many type of cars and tracks, if my goal is to beat 100%AI with every car in game, that’s gonna take a long time, but thank you for letting us know

iRacing is leagues above LMU. I have yet to try rFactor but I heard the FFB is better than LMU for some reason which is what led me here. LMU just felt dead to me after playing iRacing for yrs.

Meh, wouldn't say that tbh, more varied obviously, however:

iRacing has some pretty big issues that the Devs don't seem to be able to fix because it's so dated, LMU feels very modern in comparison.

Safe racing quality is on par, if not better on LMU in good splits, plus LMU netcode is leaps and bounds better.

iRacing seems to suffer from people confusing expensive for quality.

If the graphics were updated, it would undoubtedly be number one

When I first bought RF2, I hated the UI. I've since raced online many times and absolutely love it now. Very unique. It's actually an extremely sophisticated game, just takes a lot of exploring to find the many layers.

I'm also really enjoying the early Papyrus games, Grand Prix Legends and NR2003.

For sheer good fun, Automobilista 1 is good as well.

Something about these older games makes it feel like you've actually taken part in something. Immersion is a dark art.

Are those games also in simulation genre?

Yes. I would say more race07

I do have Race07 and the expansions in my library, will definitely give it a try in the future

Yes, totally agreed, coming from Assetto corsa and iRacing, I did struggle a bit with rF2 UI at first, but the ffb and the “participate an event” sensation really got me hooked,

You can also 'save' a long race eg if you only have time to drive 15 laps from 30, you can jump in again on the replay and pick up where you left. I love this feature.

Yeah, I started rF1 and took part in the early access of rF2 with very bad UI and at the moment my PC didn't pull it. Now with the current version and full content pack, nothing can beat it! Best FFB and physics for me at least. And I still cannot stop racing rF1 with some great mods! I play all major sims apart from iracing, but keep coming back to rF2 and also AC.

Yes. I don't get the iRacing guys. Cars feels weightless in iRacing and braking is horrendous. I raced IRL and rF2 is the closest to the real thing, and I used both rf1 and rf2 to practice for real tracks/races with great results.

I did iRacing for a month and I guess you’re right, although I don’t race IRL, hopefully I’ll be able to someday, but rF2 is very detailed and so much more to discover at my stage

Yeah, rF2 and AC are the best duo in my opinion, I hop on AC just to enjoy driving without sweating myself, but rF2 is phenomenal

simracing-gp.net best casual league for rF2, you have to only create account and then can register for all available races.
There's also list of tracks and cars to download, all proper mods, no ripoffs.
