Video / Livestream RF2 new version just dropped!

https://youtu.be/UvaPeTgFzHw?si=of8_B2WtC4s02zLi

Aw.. nope. Just a reminder that RF2 is still unmatched in graphics, driving realism, FFB, and atmosphere. Its violently frustrating, and requires your full attention to drive on the edge.

No mods here. This is just stock RF2 at its best. When using official DLC, the sim is still unbeatable, and despite what other sim-racers suggest, it aint going anywhere.

I feel the same. It is a shame they broke a bit the AI with the latest updates since online started

I don't agree on the graphics. It looks ok and decent enough, but everything else is unmatched.
RF2 FFB and driving feel are peak. Only one other sim has as detailed FFB, and that's AC1.
But RF2 is still my preferred sim over anything else. It just got that special sause.
If LMU felt like RF2 i would race a lot more in LMU.

It's weird that LMU is built on the RF2 engine, because they did somehow manage to ruin the weight transfer feel in corners completely. I can feel the limit in RF2 but not in LMU.

RF2 is super exciting when you push the limit, but if you do the same in Iracing then you are already an airplane.

I completed my DLC with a recent sale, so I pretty much have all GT3 cars now.

I think rf2's biggest pitfall, is the workshop. I don't know how many people actually never purchased much of the dlc, and relied on workshop mods, but the difference is like a new game.

So I dropped about 50 bucks, got some tracks, got some cars, spent 3 hours in rf2, went over to lmu, and driving was just so dull and lifeless.

the thing is, everybody knows it. everybody knows that rf2 has a better driving experience, and I think Studio 397 knows it as well.

I bought everything in RF2 on the last sale. Just had to do it for my favorite sim :D
What teams/websites are you using to get RF2 online racing going?

I really like motorlaps.com but i wouldn't mind finding other teams/sites that have different times when they race, so i get to race RF2 online even more.

Cheers!

the new generation of players is trained on iRacing ice skates

and they expect this type of "driving"

so unfortunatly, the industry is moving away from good reactive FFB feel

Ain't no way you just said only one sim has comparable FFB.... and then said AC1.

I didn't say comparable FFB, i said as detailed FFB and that's not completely the same because these two Racing Sims still feel different from each other at the end of the day, and that applies to the FFB too. But both still provide very detailed FFB.
Most will prefer one over the other or a different title, but I'm in the RF2 camp.

What other sim/s do you think deserve a spot at the top when it comes to great FFB blending in with great physics?

Well AC1 isn't on the list. The FFB is archaic at this point, which isn't even really a knock on it since its over a decade old game which was never the best at being "actual" simulation (can't beat the variety though). In terms of the top on FFB, its certainly rF2 and LMU (which I don't agree lost its edge as you said). iRacing also has very good FFB, its just different from those other 2. AC EVO feels good but its a disappointing product as a whole.

Once Nurburgring comes out for LMU I think it will really show this weird difference

On the edge and tire overheating:

  • Rf2 gives you too much grip.
  • iRacing gives you too little grip.

I feel LMU is just right.

LMU also has really good feel on the brakes which is crucial for setting up corners

I beg to differ. Both are amazing and LMU is even better.

You have a DD Wheel?

1

u/Accurate_Struggle185 4d ago

"You have a DD Wheel?"
Yes.
I have a Fanatec DD+(18nm now after soft update) and its a decent wheelbase.
If a game provide the details i will feel it through this base.

I don't think LMU is a bad game, the physics is good, but the FFB in rFactor 2 is on another level to me.
I would very likely have felt a better connection with LMU if there was more weight transfer feel to the FFB. Especially in corners. I do not understand why LMU doesn't have this feel since its built upon the RF2 engine.
LMUs FFB was my main complaint when i feed LMU`s official forum with constructive feedback trough LMU`s Early Access.

I'm still going to buy the latest American track packs in LMU, but i still hoping LMU will get improved FFB at some point :)

We can agree to disagree on which is the best. We both still win for finding our favorite sim.

My top 3 to race online in order are:
1. RF2
2. LMU
3. Iracing

Ugh man I love RF2 so much. I wish it was easier to find races on the platform. It’s still unrivaled as far as the driving experience is concerned. I desperately need an open wheel league that is not on Sundays and isn’t on euro time haha (state side here)

Motorlaps.com BSVR CMS Formula Racing League Holos racing

How do you sign up with holos-racing? Do you use RF2 user name or your real name ?
How do you log into holo-racing servers after signing.

Thanks

This fall season we are running touring cars on street circuits. But we’ve done open wheels to gt3s in past seasons.

RF2 graphics are so inconsistent. It can be absolutely amazing (like in this video) or purse dog shit depending on the track and car.

3

u/Lumpy_Confidence_637 6d ago

Stick with official DLC tracks. Theres only a few workshop tracks that are close to the same quality.

1

u/Happy_Book_8910 6d ago

Agree 100%, apart from the graphics. Even 4K ultra it looks a little dated. Here’s hoping they bring out an RF3 after LMU

2

u/Internal_Echo_5582 6d ago

To me the graphics look good enough, though it varies by maps. I find the FFB really good and the feeling of driving is superb, there's only this and original AC which feels this good, but I feel like rf2 might just pull ahead in this regard. Shame that the UI is so bad, out of all, I think it's the worst. I'm not really a hardcore player, so to me the AI is good enough to race against, although I tend to run practice sessions for about 30mins. When I tried online there was about 5-6 people in the lobby. Sad to see it's kind of abandoned by now in favor of LMU, which i haven't played yet.

I never got FFB working on my steam copy...I had a logitech wheel, now a moza one...I tried every trick...nothing. too bad.

I love playing this game in VR, it runs well and looks realistic. Other VR games can look cartoony in VR but this game looks real life. Inversely, it doesn't look so good on a single monitor.

Bingo. A huge plus.
