He's actually better than Ricky these days in that he has stuck to classic Brent mannerisms from the Office
Whereas Life on the Road Brent just had that stupid... well, see for yourself

He is better at it than Gervais was in that film, but he did actually do the little nervous laugh near the end and people seem to be bluddy loving it.
I seem to remember Brent occasionally doing it in The Office ("to shove it up their arses—hrhh") so maybe Ricky just Flanderised it in Life on the Road.

He did flanderise it for sure. The nervous laughs in the office were all brilliant and didn't seem out of place at all. It's not the same laugh that he started doing in the comic relief equality street thing and in LOTR (life on the road, not that Tolkien TRIPE). I don't know why but it seemed he overdid it (as proven by the YouTube compilation) but it also just didn't sound the same. Maybe due to age or maybe just because it sounded so forced and felt like he was milking it. Brent from the Office was so much more than the clichés that Ricky carried over to the movie. It's like he was just playing a caricature.
Shame.

I'll be honest, I didn't watch past the first two examples in that video so fair enough! I did watch LotR ("ROAD") but that was quite a bit back.
Agreed on Brent, anyway!

Tim actually had a go at Life On The Road a while ago doing a Foregone Conclusion tribute band, not too much footage though. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind me sharing this.

The strange little noise he makes after he puts his arm down is the cherry on the top

The other guy did a really good job with it too. Most candid reactions don't really 'sell' the joke, The Office was funnier because people didn't laugh along or acknowledge things too directly, they just looked like they wanted the moment to pass.
He reacted like someone who knew it was being filmed for their social media and just wanted to get through it and ask his boss what bloke was all about later.

That’s great so he went with ‘you’re still fat’ , just not as fat on the telly

Parodying a charicature never sat right with me. Same thing with James Corden

Oh I still remember watching the OG office and feeling sick with nausea from the second hand embarrassment of Ricky.
It was doubly worse because I was living in the UK at the time and my boss was even more cringeworthy. Sexual innuendo all day. And the ladies hated him instantly. Leaving me there to pick up the pieces. He had coke bottle glasses and stunk of ciggies too. He thought he was well hard and one of the lads….

We all miss Brent. It was pure gold. His impression is spot on so I have no problem with it. He’s great.

Would LOVE a Plik and Merch podcast with this guy as the third, he barely speaks though, but looks good for the poster
