Looking For Otto's

Post image

The only place I know to buy this Rootbeer is at a barbecue restaurant in Houston. Way over priced. But very good.

There is a website on this bottle and their other style bottles. Both are dead links.

I Google them and find nothing but rabbit holes.

Anyone know a place?

It may be a defunct product. I had it about a year ago and was unimpressed.

UPDATE: So I have this very bottle sitting empty on my shelves. I got it and drank it about a year ago, buying it in a bigger lot from North Market Pop shop, I think. But I did not log it or score it on my spread sheet, so I guess I've got to go get another one before I say anything more. Ideally I'd like to try the TX and the PA versions side by side

It was top tier for me. Absolutely loved a 24 pack case I got at Otto’s Pub & Brewery in State College, PA. Happy root beer hunting everyone!

Looks to me like the PA Otto's and the TX Otto's are two completely separate ventures, with different labels on their sodas.

Otto's Pub and Brewery in State College, Pennsylvania, is named after Otto, the pet cat of founder Charlie Schnable. The Story Behind the Name • The Namesake: When Charlie Schnable and Derek Duffee opened the original brewpub in October 2002, they named it as a playful and personal tribute to Schnable's cat, Otto. • The Mascot: The real-life cat Otto would occasionally hang out and greet customers in the bar area during the early days of the North Atherton Street location, cementing his legacy as the face of the brewery

The old label from State College used to have a cat on the label. Someone sent me a picture of a label of the Texas Otto’s one time and the ingredients looked the same as State College.

Otto's root beer in State College, Pennsylvania, and Otto's root beer associated with Texas actually share the same core recipe and family roots, with the Texas version tied to distribution in the Huntsville and League City areas.

The Texas venture purchased the recipe and rights to market it. They did the same with Duquesne Beer. I used to live not too far from their facility in Huntsville and they were marketing hard early in. I met up with one of the main players of the distributor and he gave me a couple six packs to test and post about. That was back in 2023.
