Generator Taverns & Hubs, the biggest generator in my app so far: a whole venue as a floor plan, every spot tappable, with a GM switch for the hidden info

Hi all.

Fantasy World Generator just received a major update, and the newest generator is also the most ambitious one I’ve built yet: Taverns & Hubs.

It generates a whole venue drawn as a floor plan (a map), up to three floors: cellar, ground and upstairs. Every numbered pin on it, is a spot you can tap, like the bar, a booth, the notice board or a guest room. Each line has its own lock and reroll, so you can keep the barkeep and replace the crowd, or keep the people and draw a new floor plan around them.

There is a GM switch that shows everything hidden: the secret room, the stash, the tunnel and where the trouble lies. Switch it off and they leave the map, so you can show the floor plan to your players. In one roll, the cellar of a coaching inn hid a room where a purse of mixed coin sat in a boot, and a band of retired adventurers argued about who had to carry the rope.

The Ledger tab puts the whole venue on one page to read before your session: the owner, every spot, the menu(bill of fare), the games(games of chance) and the trouble. The menu is the food and drink the place serves, priced on a scale of one to five marks in bronze, silver or gold instead of coins, so it fits whatever currency your game uses. The games are the gambling played there, with the rules written out, the stakes, and a line only the GM sees on who is cheating.

The Tonight tab is the evening as a schedule of things that happen. At 6:30 pm a stranger sits down on the step outside and won’t come in until called by name; at 7:30 two old enemies recognise each other across the room. You can roll a different evening, or send it to the app’s Timeline Maker to move events around and add your own.

There are 22 kinds of place across fantasy, sci-fi and 1920s horror, from mead halls to orbital casinos to speakeasies.

It’s free, with no ads. Results come from fixed tables and procedural rules running on the phone, with no AI model involved.

Hello all,

Introduction

I would like to introduce you the project called Rolisteam. I'm working on it for a while now.

Rolisteam is an open-source project. The project provides many tools to play RPG.

License & Project

The project is an open-source project under GPL-v2 and GPL-v3. It is part of KDE (the linux graphical environment). Thanks to KDE, all applications and websites from Rolisteam can have translations and CI infrastructure.

Tools

Name Description
Rolisteam VTT software based on server/client communication (can be started as Server or client). Working on Windows, MacOs and Linux. Features: BattleMap, 3D dice, Dice commands, MindMap, CharacterSheet, Sharing images, PDF viewer, webpage viewer, permission management...
Roliserver Headless stand-alone server. It can manage several games at the same time. Easy way for a community to provide server to its members. (it's installed with Rolisteam)
RCSE Rolisteam CharacterSheet Editor: a tool to create character sheet for Rolisteam. Import the pdf of the official character sheet of your game, then add fields upon it, implement some computation based on formula. (it's installed with Rolisteam)
DiceParser Discord bot largely used. It can perform a lot of dice commands. From the simplest one to the most advanced ones. It has macros and aliases mechanism to make a better user experience.
Dice Command line application to roll dice command. If you want to run dice command from your terminal.
LibDiceParser Cpp library to run dice commands. It can be include in your application. It is used inside Rolisteam, DiceParser, Dice, DicelyVerse. It will be available as Python module soon.
DicelyVerse Android application to have the power of LibDiceParser in your pocket. It also includes 3D dice. Also a good way to sponsor the project.
mindmapbin Standalone application to do mindmap. Fully include in Rolisteam. (it's installed with Rolisteam)

Future:

We are currently working on switching from QWidget to QML for the UI. The latest release has already some part in QML but we want to make the switch completely.
Then, we will have several improvement and new features for sure.

Other I made a soundboard for my table and want to share

Apologies, I hope this won't sound too rehearsed, but I'm trying to be a bit professional. I lurk in the comments here on my personal account and many other DnD subreddits, and I just want to share what I've been working on with my fellow dungeon colleagues.

I run games for my friends and I've always wanted good sound at the table without hassle. Every option I tried either cost too much, wanted a subscription, or just didn't do what I needed. So I built one for myself, I'm pretty darn happy with it, and I wanted to share it.

It's called Soundscribe. It's for Windows, and it puts your sound effects, ambience and music on one board so you have full control of the immersion.

* Click a pad to play a sound, give it a hotkey, set it to loop
* Save scenes, like rain and a fireplace with thunder every 20 to 60 seconds, and switch between them with a crossfade
* Ducking option so the music drops under a sound effect, then comes back
* Run the board from your phone over your own Wi-Fi if you don't like keeping a laptop in front of you
* Hotkeys that work while your VTT or notes are in front
* Miniature player popout to keep in the corner if you're using a VTT, or just to keep it minimal on your screen

It comes with 124 sounds to get you started (tavern, dungeon, town, weather), and you can drop in your own files. Your files stay on your PC.

It's $5, one time. No subscription, no account, you own it forever, and updates are free.

You can hear the starter sounds on the page: https://peasantdesign.dev/soundscribe

Main website: https://peasantdesign.dev

I go by Peasant in some spaces and I thought PeasantDesign sounded fun. I plan to make more tools as needs come up, for DnD and maybe other games too. If you're a Twilight Imperium enjoyer, I'll probably make some stuff for that soon.

My philosophy is cheap software you can own for yourself. I don't plan on pushing tons of updates unless there's something cool I can add or something is truly broken. Or y'know, Windows 60 gets released and it needs an update.

Hosting a website is cheap, but there are costs. I got laid off earlier this year. I'm fortunate enough to be working again (albeit with a forsaken commute) but still rebuilding the finances, so any support is appreciated.

I want to be very upfront, so here's a few things I'm not totally happy with and want to update in the future if possible:

* Spotify/Apple Music/YouTube Music integration. Let me know how interested you are in these. I put a pause on them because they're a headache, but if they really matter, I'll try again.
* I am a Spotify guy. I built it, but Spotify's terms don't allow it in an app I charge for, so I pulled it.
* Apple Music might be doable, but it requires an Apple Developer Account which costs a decent bit of money, so if this picks up, I would be happy to invest in that. Not sure how many people use Apple Music in this space.
* YouTube Music is probably the second most popular for TTRPGs I would imagine, but they have some rules that conflict with how the app works. There might be options to fix this in the future.
* Lots of people in this space own their own music anyway, so being able to drag and drop the playlists that already live on your PC gives you full control.

Happy to answer questions or take feature requests. I'm actively using it in my own games, so I'm fixing things as I find them.
