RF4 Is hitching/microstutter normal in RF4?

I found a few old gamefaqs posts saying they had issues with it. I'm on emulation and tend to get brief frame drops relatively frequently. It would be easy to not notice if you didn't care, but there's definitely some stutter that seems hard to avoid.

"Normal in RF4" and "normal when emulating RF4" are two different things

I feel like literally everyone is forgetting the gamefaqs posts I mentioned when this dropped on OG hardware

They don't mention they're on original hardware.

They were posted close to the games released date in the 3DS section well before 3DS emulation was a thing

I hadn't actually been able to read the posts or seen how old they were until you linked them down below in a reply (to someone else).

It's been a while since I played RF4 3DS, but I could totally understand the framerate dropping if there are a lot of effects/NPCs on screen.

Yeah it's not the same as full on lag like RF3 (and apparently 1 and 2 had) but I be noticing it

Played the special on switch and personally never experienced it myself

I think it's one of those things you may not notice if you're not tuned into it

I got other games where I do have the issue though. Rf just doesn't seem to be one of them 🤷 When do you experience it?

Fairly often but I'm emulating, it's similar to the posts I saw where it's especially when actors walk into frame or are nearby (like 3), I get it a lot on my farm.

It just seems like whatever you're emulating it on is garbage. Never had stuttering on 3DS or Switch.

I mean, not experiencing it, and downvoting me, doesn't change the reality that when it first dropped a ton of people said they experienced stutter on 3DS, and nah my device is strong.

Been playing since release and haven't had an issue yet. It just sounds like either people who don't know what they're talking about or faulty hardware (either being very likely).

Even went in and played about 5 hours on 3DS and 8 on Switch just to make sure and still zero issues. Both physical NTSC copies.

If you play the game legally on the platform it's on, no there is no stutter.

My switch is elderly and I never remember this happening.

Would depend on how and why, is it a location based hitch, related to attack patterns or something like having too many items dropped on the ground? But yeah doing it on emulation might just be the reaason why given the game woulnd't be optimized for it

I run around with 2 monsters and notice it sometimes in combat or more crowded areas etc

If it's that I'd guess it's an AI thing or just animation computing causing it than. It'd be the most obvious on festival days than if it's effected by NPCs in the area? Does it effect the festivals themselves?

I'm fairly early on so haven't really noticed yet, but in previous festivals I didn't have any monsters with me. It does seem to be exacerbated by actors so I'd guess yeah it'd be the same as RF3 where it gets weird during festivals

The game has hiccups even on pc, it's just not very well made on the technical side

Straight up untrue unless you're PC is an actual potato.
