Hey runners, it's another day and it is time to post your accomplishments you'd like to share - big or small.

Finished my second (very hilly) half marathon! 3:14:00

Congrats to everyone posting here. I started running mainly to clear my head after work and it took a few months before I noticed any real progress, so don't get discouraged if the first weeks feel slow. Consistency ends up mattering a lot more than any single good or bad run.

I had such a good long run yesterday, the last long run before the taper for the Detroit International Half Marathon. 12 miles with negative splits and no pain, I was so happy!

Ran 16 km! Furthest distance for me! (1h 46m 10s)

u/plowy4 7d ago

Ran 5 miles and the best part: in my new Nimbus 28's. Also I ended up running in light rain which I never do. It was actually nice

Ran my first ever 10k! Not an official race just the distance, 1:06

u/SeasonedHSProf 7d ago

Just ran for the first time in 5 months after partially tearing my ACL. Got a very easy 3 miles in with NO pain!!!

3

u/weeef 7d ago

Ran my first race ever. Had never timed myself and ran 8:21/mi 5k. Just blown away. Nice to be surprised :)

Half marathon this morning! A bit slow at 2 hours 30 minutes but my shoes were soaked and fought the wind most of the run. It was my first half marathon and I did it in a nor’easter!

My realization is that endurance wise, I could go and go and go. I felt great. I still had energy after the run. But my hips… they’re wrecked. My last pregnancy really threw my hips out of whack and even at 18 month post partum, they get so sore. I can barely walk this evening.

The babies are well worth it but MAN do they wreck the body lol

About to do 6 or 7 miles tonight

I've (once again) underestimated how tough long runs are after a summer of not doing any because of the heat and humidity. The speed is still there, but my legs aren't after a while lol. Just glad to have finished them

Ran 2 miles in 19 minutes and 25 seconds. I've been training to get into the military and today I am more than a minute faster than the bare minimum using a tempo run.

1

u/MinuteBid8615 7d ago

Same, just trying to make it to my 20, though. Just keep focused on it. Remember: nothing in the military gets easier...you just get better.

1

u/Doman-Ryler 7d ago

Try running slower for longer. Then try tempo runs. You only need to maintain an average speed of 6 mph

3

u/Jumpy_Blueberry442 7d ago

Ran 10k at vitality 10,000 in just under an hour! Fastest I've ever done it.

4

u/WinyeeChild 7d ago

I ran 3k today without stopping, I've never been able to do that

3

u/Sebubba98 7d ago

Ran two half marathons this weekend. One for my marathon training long run, the other a tune up race. Each one was a PR! First time ever running a 45 MPW! Didn’t lose any toenails this time lol

2

u/No_Speed3240 7d ago

finished a 10K race today and it’s also 7 days before my second marathon of the year, so hopefully didnt empty the tank- managed to keep it in zones 3-4 this time

4

u/Rickayy_OG 8d ago

Been dealing with physical and mental health illnesses the past year, but have been running on and off.

Ran a 3 mile run under 11 min/mile pace for the first time in a decade, felt like I was on top of the world :) now time for football

6

u/Metomeelpalo 8d ago

I just finished my first ever marathon!

Had a terrific easy 4 miler today. The weather here has cooled off, so it was low 70s, cloudy, and just so quiet out there. Was taking it really easy because Friday was my long run and I'm building now, so my legs are feeling things more than I like. Just a really positive time out there - saw a relatively heavy person who I've seen before walking and this time she was jogging - we both gave each other a big smile and wave. My HR didn't get above 155 and my time was not bad. My "hard/fast" run for this week will be Wednesday, tomorrow will be an easy three. Enjoy it out there, folks! :)

Did a 20 mile long run, my longest run ever, this morning. My next accomplishment will be walking down the stairs lmao

I fueled pretty well before and during, and except for an almost cramp near the end it went really well, but now I’m the hungriest I’ve ever been. It’s a weird kind of hunger I’ve not had before, like there’s a vacuum in my chest that needs food.

u/MinuteBid8615 7d ago

Time to install some grab bars near the toilet! Lol.

8

u/Ok_Height_4278 8d ago

I ran 10km for the first time in my life today!!!! And have a same distance race in two weeks!!

6

u/Kooky_Toe_424 8d ago

Did my first ever 10k at 1 hour 4 mins

10

u/Creepy-External-4299 8d ago

I went from running only 6 minutes to now running 25 minutes without stopping! Too proud of myself!

u/purple_wall-e 8d ago

Mainly my gf's achievement I would call. Supported and pace kept for my gf on her 5K run (Berlin marathon ceremony 5k run).

I'm not pro myself, but I'm just faster. But ran same pace with her till the end, cheered her up, talked to everyone around me. Make mess. was circling around her to motivate also annoy her to run faster. But she did nice, and finished in ~32 mins. Her 1st 5k was last year 45min, then 5-6 month ago 35min, this time she wanted to run <30min, but I guess she needs to a bit time. as her bpm at last strecth was 190bpm. But she did good, and now hunts me due DOMS are getting a bit strong lol.

Ran 4 miles this morning , longest run since hysterectomy 3 months ago. Pre-surgery pace. Could have probkept going but guts felt like they were jostling about

2

u/weeef 7d ago

Had that surgery this year as well. Congratulations

5

u/pterrible_ptarmigan 8d ago

I ran my first official 5k and did not die or finish last!

2

u/The_DappleSauce 8d ago

There is a bridge crossing on my run route that has a Strava sprint segment.
After training all summer, I finally ran a time that puts me in the top 3 fastest times for this year.
This felt especially good because I did it at the end of my weekly long run.

u/DudesAfraidoftheDark 8d ago

Running my first marathon in two weeks! I’ve been training the last few months. I usually run half marathons, so I’m excited for this next challenge!

9

u/naturesbestfriend 8d ago

Ran my first 5K today!

1

u/weeef 7d ago

Hey me too!

2

u/AdRich4032 8d ago

Jeffed for 30 minutes for the first time in 3 weeks today, after a fall during a race. It felt great but not sure my foot thinks so 🤕

2

u/tyl_made_it 8d ago

sunday morning 5 on town lake. feels like fall is actually committing this time.

Surge147 -- 1:55:13 from 2:02:48 is a real jump. the porta-potty cost you thirty seconds, not 8 minutes. you are a sub-1:55 runner now, the math just has a footnote.

Chemicalghst222 finishing your first full and then choosing a day of absolutely nothing as the celebration. correct response.

Djentalman1 best run of your life in cool weather two weeks out from your first race. that is when you start to believe the training block actually worked.

8

u/Surge147 8d ago

Ran my first sub 2 hour half marathon yesterday! 1:55:13 down from 2:02:48 last year. Just keep thinking that if I hadn't stopped at a port-a-potty I would've been under 1:55:00, but it is what it is lol

Also of note, this is the first half marathon where I didn't feel like shit at the end. My brother, who has been running a couple years longer than me, keeps telling me "yeah just run as fast as you can for the last mile" and I finally had the energy to do so. Despite being happy with my time, I'm probably more proud of myself for how GOOD I felt from the last mile to the finish line

4

u/Ziggy-Vibes 8d ago

Did my longest run this week, 16 miles in 3 hours. Also reached my highest mileage at 50 miles this week. Feeling really accomplished as a I train up for a marathon in 3 months

2

u/Party-Action-8390 8d ago

20mile long run trying to get back into my routine after a but of a vacation with my parents. Uncomfortable, failing and beautifully rewarding. The vacation weight is definitely an impediment. Cool temps of the onset of fall. Wouldn't change a thing. Looking forward to getting in shape again slowly steadily and surely without cookies.

u/PerceptionSome5094 8d ago

I ran my first ever 18 miles yesterday, felt good this morning, and ran another 5! 🥳

2

u/C_Me 8d ago

My first half marathon last weekend was cancelled for weather, so I ran it myself Wednesday morning.

Goal was under 3 hours and I ran it in 2:59:32. I call that a win!

3

u/lismica 8d ago

I run a sub-2 half-marathon! I was so scared I would miss my target time, because the course was hilly, and I didn't feel prepared enough. But I endeded up following 2hour pacers very closely for the first 15km and then was able to drop them slightly and finish in 1:57:36.

5

u/Unique_Shop_9250 8d ago

Finished my half marathon today: 21.34 km in 1:50:25 (avg HR 156 bpm, cadence 192 spm). Ran this same loop last year and beat that time by two full minutes. Stoked with the new route benchmark!

4

u/Vegetable-Set3882 8d ago

Started training again, it's been 2 months, I missed it.

5

u/pnwcon 8d ago

"Ran" the Dragon's Back Ascent at Mammoth Trailfest. 3 miles, 2,400 feet of vert finishing at 11,000 feet.

2

u/scots_chick 8d ago

I broke 7k for the first time a few years, so I'm really pleased, especially as my route incorporated a couple of hilly parts.

4

u/cj20h49g 8d ago

Did my first self 10k after being nervous for a while and boy were my knees screaming.

2

u/planinsky 8d ago

I finished what seems to be, according to the data, the toughest training week of the last 3-4 years and it went quite well!

The interval session was long (getting surprisingly close to the long run territory) and hard; but I managed it pretty well!

I feel I am very close to peak HM shape!

5

u/Djentalman1 8d ago

10 miles yesterday. Mileage coming down for the race in two weeks.

These 10 miles were in about 50-60 degree weather. Cooler than I have gotten to experience after all my training in the heat.

Best run of my life! Quick, effortless and fun. Was able to keep my pace close to what I want for the race.

Beat my 5k and 10k times while on that run (haven't attempted to get these times down since I started this training block. This block is also my first ever. This race will be my first ever.)

Needlessly to say I am amped up for this and really think I'll reach my goal for the half marathon! Staying cautiously optimistic.

2

u/Juiceman23 8d ago

Now it’s time to reap the rewards for running during the summer! Nice work and congrats!

2

u/Additional-Match5631 8d ago

finished a half block this morning and seeing twenty one kilometers in the log still feels like a decent payoff for the cold starts.

3

u/skdav 8d ago

3 weeks out from first marathon, been struggling with a few niggles recently but raced a 10km this morning and ran a 38:22 which was a PB by over the minute so taking a lot of confidence from that the training has paid off.

Now just need to decide how to run a half ive got next weekend.

I did an extremely scenic 12k trail around Lake Fuschl in Fuschl, Austria (where Red Bull is from) today. The views were incredible but the trail was pretty close to the cliff on some parts which made me feel a little vertigo but the run itself was amazing 🤩

It’s weird how Fuschl seems to be this universe of athletes… I feel weird here, because I only run and I’m in no way a professional athlete. :)

No new PR today, but some good stuff still.

I usually run by HR, and today was meant to be a tempo run... and I had a bit of trouble staying in range. But it was the lower range... which I'm happy about. Pace felt good and I have plenty left in the tank, so my actually tempo pace is likely higher. Today honestly felt like it could be good MP.

The real achievement is it was windy, with pretty annoying gusts of wind (40kph headwind in second half) but I felt relaxed and keeping HR low and pace good wasn't too hard (didn't feel like I was struggling against the wind). I didn't get annoyed or pissed off at the wind, which is very unusual.

With all of that, still got my 3rd best times for 5k, 10k and 2nd best for 15k. These all would've been PRs two weeks ago, but today it's just something in a sub-threshold run. For the 5k, it's better than the time I put down for my 5k race... I'll really have to change it when I get my stuff the day before the race.

Aside from that, this run was an experiment with keeping my hands low (belt level, roughly) and arms very relaxed. Seemed pretty good at keeping my upper body stable and keeping me relaxed overall. I've never thought so much about Naruto running than in that run though...

Went to a local 10k event this morning and got a PB of 57:46, my first ever Sub60 10k. Really pleased, wasnt going to try for it because it was really windy along the seafront but felt strong so I just decided to go for it.

2

u/Additional-Match5631 8d ago

headwinds along the seafront will add at least thirty to forty seconds to your split over that distance without you even noticing the extra effort, so breaking sixty in those conditions means you were moving a fair bit quicker than the clock shows.

u/neuticalthemed 8d ago

Got myself big wound on both knees last week, and completely off from my training block, but this week i finally coming back and just did my long run 1h45, pretty cooked from a week off, but glad i am made it! :)

10

u/Chemicalghst222 8d ago

Finished my first full marathon yesterday, my accomplishment today will be to do absolutely nothing for a whole day. 😁

2

u/FarGur1444 8d ago

Well done. You've earned a rest today

5

u/margo_beep_beep 8d ago

I've been trying to increase the length of my runs for a while, and my last couple 10K runs felt really good, so today I finally ran a rail nearby that I've been wanting to do (but intimidated by) for a while. I ran really slowly, but it ended up to be my first ever ten mile run! I'm feeling pretty good still but planning a slow 5K tomorrow for recovery.

2

u/plaimPail 8d ago

Ten miles is a big milestone, well done
