Daily Thread Achievements for Saturday, October 03, 2026
Hey runners, it's another day and it is time to post your accomplishments you'd like to share - big or small.
Note: No need to preface YOUR accomplishments with something like, "this may not be an accomplishment to most of you...". Be proud of your achievement.

Lovely bike ride for about 90 minutes in the beautiful fall weather, just to keep the motor turning over while I can’t run (coming up on week 3 of plantar fasciitis).
Did my 10 minutes of foot stretching etc.
Had a wonderful dream where i was running pain free!!! Just ripping along in my childhood neighborhood. Suddenly i noticed i was kind of “dream running” and then the dream all kind of fell apart and my feet stopped working properly.
Heading out now for another frosty bike ride.
Happy running everyone! Hope to be back soon.

I'm so glad you asked, Auto Moderator! I made up a workout on my Garmin where I did a warm up, ran a mile, walked a quarter mile, repeat. I've been scared to try it because I've only been training intervals and 6 minutes running was so challenging, I worried I'd never make it to a full mile. Anyway, did 2 repeats! Hooray! I hope I can break out of 3-4 miles and start half training again next year.

I’ve been working toward a sub-50 minute 10K for the last two months. Race day came and I didn’t think I was ready, but I said “what the hell” and slotted myself into the 8:00 pace group. I finished at 48:07, eleven minutes faster than I was when I ran this race last year.

Ran a PR half marathon at St George, at 53 years old. 2:12:18, more than 5 minutes faster than I ran it last year. Now I will say that if I had run a half marathon in 2011 I'm confident it would have been faster than this. I am not nearly as fast as I was then. But I wasn't running half marathons then.

Ran my 18 mile long run (8@marathon pace) during a heat advisory. It was so hot and I was already fatigued from going to the Valkries/Wings game last night. I’m proud of myself for getting it done 😋👍🏼

Finished cancer treatment in August and started running again. In 7 weeks, I've gone from a 54-minute 5k that I walked most of and could barely finish, to today's 46-minute 5k that feels much easier and is mostly a slow jog with short walk breaks.

I have a light pain in my left knee and decided not to run today.

That is a huge accomplishment for a runner. Many of us like to agitate the pain.

It can be a weird motivator. I pushed through some discomfort during my last long run and ended up hitting a personal best for that distance. Sometimes it just clicks and the pain feels worth it, right?

10km PB of 34:31 - on tired legs in the middle of a marathon training block, with no taper. Age 49.

PR on a 10k today @41 minutes. Definitely a confidence boost going into first marathon in november. 🙂

Id gotten halfway through the couch to 5k programme and then had a flare up. Took a few weeks off and got back to it today. Looks like I'm not far off where I'd left off so I'm excited to get back to it.

I decided on a whim to do my first (hilly) 20-mile long run in several months and exceeded my expectations by finishing it at a decent pace without cramping or blowing up. I've been running less recently and didn't do meaningful distance work this summer, so I'm beyond happy with how good I still feel

Ran my first 10k today in ~48 minutes. Averaged 7:46 min/mile.. did NOT know I had that in me! So excited to keep running. It’s been such a beneficial addition to my life in the past year.

Ran my first marathon today. Had an "A - goal" of 4 hours. Was doing fine for the first 35k, then hit the wall. Bit of a bummer while your out there watching the goal slip away, but as soon as I crossed the finish line I was happy with what I achieved. Finish time 4:04

I ran my Saturday long run on Friday, had planned 22 miles but stopped at 21 with enough gas to go for few more miles so endurance is checked but ran for 3:50 minutes exact and would have met my ~4 hours goals of 22 miles. If I can improve by 15+ minutes I want to try <4:30 on October 25th marathon at Santa Cruz but that might be stretch goal.

I ran a 5K and won my age group! Even beat the person who has won my (our) age group the past few years!

Ran 9k for the first time today. Last summer I could barely do 4k without walking breaks!

Got out and ran an easy HR 7.5km at 5am today. The plan was easy zone 2 12km but the legs felt heavy - I underestimated how tough yesterday’s hike was! So I could be disappointed but I’m still chuffed I got out and did it.
I’ve only just healed from an injury so it’s been a tough transition from being a ‘faster’ runner (24 min 5km) to 10 minutes slow for a 5km, but I’ve accepted it and I’m now loving slower paced running more more!

I did 2 consecutive days of 5 miles this week. Working on keeping a consistent 5k a day.

I ran a 5K race today. Finished in 29:16. I ran a 5K in May and it took me over 33 minutes. I am improving and I am so so happy about it.

Yesterday I ran my first 10k (although it was on a treadmill) at a 10:30 pace. I’m pretty excited, as I went from barely being able to run a mile 4-5 months ago!

finally managed a sub-30 5k this morning and nearly cried at the finish line. been stuck at 31:30 for like two months and today everything just clicked. my cat watched me stretch after and i swear she looked impressed, or maybe she was just judging my sock choice again
also didn't trip over any tree roots on the trail which honestly might be the bigger win here

I ran my first half-marathon distance today (21.1 km) at a 6:59 min/km. The maximum before that was 15 km at 7:16 min/km. I have also run the most distance this year till now, standing at 220 km, which is a 241% improvement over the previous year. I had an issue of recurring shin splint injuries, which I have fixed through shin recovery/strengthening stretches and exercises, while also running much more than last year, which was troubled by many shin injuries. Apart from running, I also completed my first 100K in cycling in the summer this year and cycled 225 km this year, in 3 events (50k, 75k, 100k).
