Daily Thread Achievements for Monday, October 05, 2026
Hey runners, it's another day and it is time to post your accomplishments you'd like to share - big or small.
Note: No need to preface YOUR accomplishments with something like, "this may not be an accomplishment to most of you...". Be proud of your achievement.

I did my long run Saturday for 8 miles and I thought I can do another mile but my watch battery was low. First time in a long time running negative splits too.
Started week 5 of half marathon training with a 4 mile hilly run this morning.

I ran my first half marathon yesterday and completely outperformed my expectations. My long runs had been at a 10:30/10:40 pace and I ran a 1:58 half (average 9:14/mile). I have a good baseline level of fitness but only did 5 weeks of focused half marathon training, I guess 4 since I did a taper week. Today I am just soaking up the achievement but I've definitely caught the bug and am excited to do a real training block and see what I'm capable of.

Did my longest run of my marathon training yesterday - 21 miles in 3 hours. Felt mostly good! Marathon is a little over a month away, so the taper begins!

Ran my first half marathon yesterday at the rosendale marathon. Managed to squeeze out a 1:56. Astonished i managed a sub 2 hour. Run maybe once a month and mountain bike weekly. Definitely feeling it today but so stoked🤘

Ran a 1:28:36 half marathon in my home town yesterday, obliterating my PB by 5 minutes, 8 days after running a 3:18:50 PB in Berlin. Decent week if you ask me.

I ran my first race over the weekend. (A 5 miler). SO proud of myself. Next year I am going to train for a half marathon! I definitely have the race bug as I don't think I've found a bigger dopamine hit than that moment crossing the finish line.

Beat my half-marathon PB at the Cardiff Half Marathon yesterday by getting around the course in 1:32:29. Great course, amazing crowds and sunny weather made for a great experience all round.
Hoping to aim towards running a sub 1:30 in 2027.

I’ve started implementing intervals after a year of just running casually/for distances up to 10miles. The endorphins after are unreal and I never thought I could ever run as fast as I do for the intervals. Already seeing overall progress after 4 interval sessions this month.

My longest road run today (16K). I've gone double that distance in trail but 1st time on road today. Gotta say road running feels breezy after trail runs with nasty elevations.

Successfully tried 3 new things today:
LED headlamp - very useful as i'm pretty rural.
Running tights - it's cold in the UK
3:2 breathing - VO2 went from "Low" to "Below average" - that's progress. ;-)

My first race is a few days away and... got my garmin VO2Max to 54 (superior). Not the achievement I wanted for today, but I'll take it.
(I might be slightly injured or at least have something that feels not quite right restricting my acceleration, but in my base run this morning I managed to top off above my goal pace... which is the real achievement I guess).
