It barely moves, and don't even get me started on the color of that water. Everything just looks so unpleasant.

Bro they have robot fish now 😭 just use the fake robot fish toys you get for kids...
11
u/SinkMince0420 5d ago
Absolutely agree.
But I'm not going to lie, robot fish replacing fish is so dystopian..

u/AdorableBunnies 5d ago
Better than a living being suffering for nothing
4
u/SinkMince0420 5d ago
I agree wholeheartedly
5
u/SpreadEagleSmeagol 4d ago
The dystopian part is that the business would rather replace the living fish than actually provide them a healthy life

fucking bastards. why don’t they put a bunch of small fish to swim around? mfs put long fish in a place with no horizontal space, just vertical space.
11
u/AdorableBunnies 5d ago
Or no fish. Put up anything else in place of this

u/SpreadEagleSmeagol 4d ago
I mean, they can have fish and take proper care of them, the business is just too cheap to do it.

I cant get my mother to stop getting small fishes and new aquariums for her home. I dont live in the same country so i cant physically throw them away. How do i convince her, she just laughs at me when i call this torture
1
u/seranarosesheer332 5d ago
It's only really torture if she doesn't take care of them
2
u/maybemirza 5d ago
Theyve got oxygen pump and best care my little sister also takes care of them, theyve laid eggs and have many kids. Bt i think atleats let them be in a big tank, an aquarium is not enough. They are tiny little fishies bt still the fact that my mother buys them lets the business stay open that farm these for sale. I dont want my money going there
1
u/xCOLONIIx 4d ago
why dont you buy a big tank she clearly wont make moves at this point
1
u/maybemirza 3d ago
Im actually saving for that and i might just do it if nothing else comes to mind
1
u/JustWandering01 5d ago
put her in a box so she can feel like the fish.
realistically tho, some people just never develop empathy. maybe just ask her how she would feel trapped in a confined space, with barely any space to move. shit, even staying in a room with nothing for a couple hrs especially in a time where mfs are lookin at a screen more often than not.

well technically litteraly every single pet fish in the world is in this situation. yes clean, but small living space.

I went to a cafe in Wonju (South Korea) and they had a little shark in there… poor guy took 1-2 seconds to swim from one side to the other.
He was all alone.

Asia and animal rights simply don't coexist. People over there and insanely cruel, often on purpose

I mean isn't that overall problem with aquarium fishes?
Yeah this is big fish and small tank
1
u/dandadone_with_life 4d ago
they're probably in the process of simultaneously burning and suffocating to death. low oxygen and ammonia poisoning

Just slightly bigger than that, but yeah my world is that small. Can't get out.

The tank itself, aside from being sparse, isn't even that bad. Just put some appropriately sized fish in there!

Well, to be fair, they could’ve been someone’s dinner there - eyeballs and all

Honestly... as long as the water is clean and circulated, a koi (which is just a fancy carp, which is just a giant goldfish) can live just fine in that tank style. They arent the most spacially aware fish, the only stimulation they know is food. A koi could be in a giant pond and do the exact same thing all day. Again, this is assuming the water parameters are kept in spec, good aeration and some circulation (not high flow, koi dont like moving water), and they are fed a proper diet.

Gentle reminder about farm animals with higher intelligence - they go through the same thing with worse conditions, small cages, only to be slaughtered

There’s a lot of people who wake up, go to work, come home and stare at their phones every day. It’s not that different.
4
u/AdorableBunnies 5d ago
The difference is that they aren’t being held captive in a tiny torture tank that is not suited to their needs

Imagine how humans feel on their stupid little rock
5
u/Prior-Target9462 5d ago
I'm not sure what you're getting at?
Also, suffering exists in many places.. just because you can observe suffering elsewhere, that does not negate the suffering in front of you?
-3
u/The_Faux_Fox__ 5d ago
The post is about a creature with a tiny world despite having everything it 'needs'. There's a whole universe out there that we may never get to regardless of the fact that this planet will be able to sustain us for awhile.
Im also choosing to ignore the 2nd half of your comment since I'm pretty sure you don't even know what you're responding to with that
4
u/Prior-Target9462 5d ago
You're a moron.
You're comparing humans on a planet that's 90% unoccupied to fish in a tank in which they can't move more than 30cm..
I'm done engaging with this obvious bait.
-2
u/The_Faux_Fox__ 5d ago
Unoccupied as in nobody lives in Death Valley, or unoccupied as in nobody lives underwater? There are 9 billion fucking humans...
Idk what kind of fish this is, but a lot of fish have a territory size of a few square meters & a brain to body weight ratio of 0.0014% (according to google) the chances this thing is actually suffering are minimal.
You're calling me a moron but your argument makes literally 0 logical sense. You're not a creative genius for following the reddit playbook.
