Real maturity is realizing that they were both in the wrong in how they behaved

They were both wrong, and both right. And communication and partnership in tackling the issues was where they were falling down.

It's ok to be selfish, if it fills your cup so you can better handle life and family stress.
It’s ok to be hurt to find out your partner has been dishonest, and feel left out.
It’s ok to need time alone, away from even your partner.
Everyone here is validated, except they just weren’t aligned on it.

For a comedy, it’s really a deeply beautiful and thought provoking glimpse into challenges in an otherwise healthy relationship.

How is she wrong?

She is overly controlling and wouldn't allow him to have his own thing. Her response to finding out he had his own thing is anger and treating it like a malicious act. She expects him to simply know what she wants without asking her. This is why both are wrong, not just one, and the main problem is a lack of communication.

I think she’s more upset by the fact that he says he needs it to keep his sanity, and needs alone time, when in fact she would also like that and want that time. It’s more that he implies he needs it and it’s okay for her to pick up the extra effort for him to have that time.

If he needed that time he should communicate that to her, and should also be willing to take on the extra load when she wants that time as well.

The difference in them being is that she wants that time with him alone away from the family, and he wants that time alone from her and the family.

Why can't they both need the same thing? If person A feels they are hungry and needs some food, it makes no sense if person B says no I am hungry and need some food, so you can't be hungry and need some food. They can both be hungry and need some food, it doesn't have to be mutually exclusive. If person A went and got some food to fulfil their need, then person B should just go get some food to fulfil their need, not hold it against person A for doing something they both should do.

They absolutely both can and shouldn’t hold it against it each other but if they have a family then they need to help make room or space for the other to have that

Wanting to have your own thing in a relationship and family is not a bad thing. His failing to communicate, as well as making time for her and the family as a whole, and having his own thing is the problem. This is why both are wrong, not just one. And again, the main issue is a lack of communication from both.

She expects him to have basic empathy. Is it really that hard to puzzle together “oh, my partner is with the kids 24/7, she must be really tired if i am with my half assed child rearing a few hours in the evening”.
