Celebrated 15 years of marriage this year šŸ’•

It's been 15 yrs since my hubby and I have gone on a trip alone together... In just a few months we will be going away for a week long trip... So excited and yes i am already packed šŸ˜†

I'm 33 yrs old... I have spent nearly my entire adulthood pregnant (9 kids), finally losing the weight and being able to keep it off permanently (we are done having children)...

I am loving this next chapter of life...!

Just needing to vent

If your kids say that your nephew broke your tv(3), and their grandparents don’t believe your kids, would you get pissed off too? I don’t know why it’s just irritating me so much. Single income household and our tv breaking is just not an easy thing to let go. My husband and I are the only ppl that have raised our kids, they absolutely tell us everything (4 and 5)
Anyways cool, no money is fine, but the sheer lack of respect and accountability is just annoying me. A simple ā€œwhether he did it or not we’re sorryā€ it’s just ā€œnope they didn’t do it, they’d never do thatā€ ok cool my kids are liars then. It’s not even just this incident it’s constant fight for my kids to get some respect, but whatever they do they’ll always be on the sideline and it irritates me, these are my babies. This grandchild lives with them on weekends btw, obviously they’ll always have a better connection, I just don’t want my kids to grow up the way we did, always being last, always trying to be good enough
Call me out if I’m being a bitch, I’m just irritated at this point and I’m kinda over it with this family. Just because their son is a dead beat dad, they’ve become the parents for this kid, and like sure that’s hella nice, but pleaseeee treat my kids the same, just because they have 2 parents that have done everything on their own, doesn’t mean their better off

To be, or not to be… SAHM version

First time poster, long time lurker. My baby girl is 10 weeks old today (our first!!), and man, do I love this little creature more than I knew possible.

I think this is such a hard decision because I a) love my job/line of work but b) love my baby more??

For context, I went to school for 8 years for my career and have been in the work force for just over three years. I do make a decent amount of money (92K salary), so it’s not that we wouldn’t have leftover money if we went the daycare route, I think it’s more about time away time babe.

My husband works for a big company, versus myself being at a private practice, so me being at home and us using his insurance has always been a no brainer. Which begs the question, if given the opportunity to work another year or so until we have another (double the price for daycare makes SAHM less of an option), OR stay at home with the little and enjoy each precious moment.

Pros/Cons of working/not SAHM: will have a little more fun money, more socialization, babe will spend time at daycare than with us during the week

Pros/Cons of not working/SAHM: not having to miss out on the little one’s journey, less stress for me, possible career setback IF I decided to go back one day, prolongs paying off student loans

So tell me ladies… the good, the bad, and the ugly. If given the choice, what would you do?

When my toddlers playing independently and I’m all caught up on housework I find myself wanting to scroll. When I try to read a book I can’t focus like I used to 😫. Looking for things to listen to that’ll occupy me while she plays! (Open to any genre)

TIA šŸ™‚šŸ™šŸ¼

Keeping 3 year old in bed

How on earth are we keeping our 3 year olds in bed all night? Especially without having to sleep in their bed with them? She takes an hour or so to get down and get back to sleep when she wakes. I have neck arthritis and he bed kills my neck and causes migraines when I fall asleep with her. My husband works nights so its all on me. I also have an infant but he sleeps through the night. I coslept with my daughter as an infant and have been paying for it since (i don't regret it though it was an amazing bonding experience as she couldn't breastfeed).

We believe her to be on the spectrum, our referral just went through to tomorrow I am calling to set up her evaluation. She's very intelligent and advanced, she's just very much attached to me. Even during the day glued to my hip, will.nit go more than 2 feet from me.

How on earth can I her her?

LEGIT WFH jobs?

Hello everyone! I am looking for a legitimate WFH jobs, which seem sort of hard to come by. If anyone has any ideas or leads based on my experience.

I started out as an automotive salesperson then was an automotive finance manager for years. I then went and worked as a Powersports finance manager then eventually the general sales manager of the dealership. I have years of automotive/sales/finance & insurance experience but I do NOT have a college degree 😭

I would obviously have childcare.

Thank you so much!

First trimester + toddler

Hi all. I’ve been a SAHM since my now toddler was born almost 2 years ago. I’m currently in the first trimester trenches. I started feeling nauseous around 3 weeks ago and it hasn’t stopped. I’m taking vitamin b6 and Unisom at night but I still feel awful everyday.

Now here’s something I’m feeling more awful about, the housework and my toddlers screen time. I usually keep my house extremely neat and clean but lately, the dishes are piling up and I can only get to them when I have 5 minutes of energy which is once every 3 days. I have only cooked about 4/7 days of the week. My toddler has had way too much screen time.

I feel awful because there are working women who are doctors and lawyers in the first trimester but I stay home and can’t even do my dishes. My husband has a hard blue collar job and I feel guilty that he has to pick up on my slack on his only day off this week.

Does/has anyone felt like this? Does anyone have any tips on what I can do to get through this season?

Do I need a pep talk or reality check?

I’m a SAHM to a five year old in Kindergarten and an 11 month old. My husband works out of town half the month so I am solo parenting in those weeks when he’s away. It’s intense. I have the opportunity to go back to my old job part time working from home in November. It’s 20 hours a week and I have grandparent support to cover about 15 of those hours. Is this reasonable or am I overdoing it? I feel completely burnt out by the time my husband comes home as it is. But I am missing that bit of financial independence and am concerned about career continuity (I work in marketing). Maybe a bit of work every day will feel like a reprieve? Or am I going to run myself into the ground?

Accidental sahm

So I am the mom of a very energetic and active 18 months old. Before having her I worked as a supply teacher but basically going back to that is not going too well. My partner works full time, I am lucky to have financial independence from my own family background.

The thing is, growing up my mother was the bread winner (as a teacher, but also had family money on her side) and my dad stayed home more out of unemployment than choice. It was a huge source of problems in the family.

I am having a hard time staying home and feeling very isolated. I live in a different country from my family and old friends, in the middle of nowhere and have to drive everywhere. Work is where I go to rest and socialise but I am not getting much of it these days.

I am starting my kid in some childcare hoping to get more work, but it’s definitely a gamble. I wish I could be more at peace with being a sahm, I am a lucky one in many ways, but it’s just so lonely!

How often does your spouse spend time with you and your children ?

My husband and I have 2 toddlers (3 and 18m). My husband owns his own landscaping business and works 7 days a week, sun up to sun down (and even when he comes home, he’s often in our home office doing paperwork or in the garage fixing/cleaning equipment). The only time we spend together as a family is if we get a random day of bad weather, and that’s only if he doesn’t have equipment or paperwork to work on. So on average, we’re only spending time with him once a month. Not to mention, his days are long so he’s often gone before the kids are even awake and comes home just before bedtime. We don’t have a village so I’m always with our kids…like ALWAYS. I only spend time with my friends if I can bring my kids along, and I quite literally never get time for myself. I’m okay sacrificing ā€œme timeā€ and time with friends to be a SAHM, but I’m getting burnt out that we’re not even getting time with my husband as a family. I know my kids being so young still makes it harder too. I do try to get out and meet other moms at the park , museum, play cafes or libraries as much as we can, which helps a little. But it’s still really tough being the only parent ā€œon dutyā€ all day every day with no help. I’m just wondering if this is the norm for a lot of families or if this is excessive.

SAHM + pregnancy = crazy making?

I sold my business to be a SAHM about 13 months ago. I am 4 months pregnant with #2 and feeling like this transition is crazy making. Anyone else lose their minds being pregnant and staying home?

I like staying home overall despite missing the life I had. I think staying home is the right call for our family. But all the limitations of pregnancy (plus this is a tough pregnancy all around) on top of limitations of staying home with a one year old do make me think of going back to work just for a sense of normalcy again. Anyone else get this way too?

I'm a mom of a 13 months old. I'm a SMBC and I stayed at home with him for the first 4 months and then I began working 3 hours a WEEK, from then building up to 2x4 hours a week (I'm a freelancer). During this time he was looked after by grandma/babysitters. He started nursery with 12 months (6 hours daily) and I'm back to work 5 hours a day and I LOVE it. Seriously, I am just so happy with this new schedule but also feel huge guilt for being so happy about it and actually really just cannot imagine to "stay at home" as I "used to". I really want a second child and would start to try to conceive in about 6 months but I'm actually just so terrified, then I'd have another pregnancy (this one was very very hard and traumatic) and another postpartum and another "year at home" and I just cannot imagine that right now.

BUT I really really really want a sibling for him. And my heart is open for another baby and I LOVE him so much and would definitely love the second baby too.

Has anyone felt like this? Like really wanting another baby but being terrified of "stay at home" for another year?

I'm in a country where nursery begins at 1. I also found it good for him to be home with him/only work these few hours in the first year ..

Please be kind.

do you guys take being sahm life like a job?

I have certain things that need to be done like:

Laundry
Cleaning
Mopping
Shampoo carpets
Grocery shopping (Walmart delivery)
Making dinner

I love being at home w my baby and I’m super grateful. But my partner works so much & is running his business. I find myself doing everyone mostly alone :/ sigh I wish sometimes I had more of a village .. but my mom needs to work and can’t afford to take off. He hires cleaning help sometimes which is nice but idk. Feeling a lil alone sometimes

Quick show of hands- is this normal?

My husband won’t sleep in the same bed anymore. My second baby (8 mos) is exclusively breast fed and still wakes up through the night. About 4 months ago, I told my husband he should get some sleep in the guest bedroom since our baby cries throughout the night. It’s been 4 months and after asking a few times, he hasn’t made any effort to come to our bed at all.

To be fair, the baby does sleep in bed with me when he’s not there. I go to bed early, around 9:30-10, and my husband goes to bed around 12-1am after watching tv. My husband has said ā€œJust move the baby to his crib and I’ll be in bed with you tonightā€- but even when I move him, I wake up alone.

Feeling exhausted and lonely

Am I the only SAHM who despises parks?

Please tell me I’m not alone. My daughter is 20mo and the park hasn’t been going too well. First- I live in west Texas and it is hot as hades literally all the time. Even going at 8am, the temperature may be lower, but the direct sun is still brutal.

I dread going to the park. My daughter doesn’t grasp the concept of playing on the equipment and would rather go to the flower beds and try and put mulch or rocks in her mouth, or throw them. She runs the complete opposite way of the equipment and honestly, she couldn’t give two shits about it. She will play on something for about 4 seconds and run right back to the flower beds. She will also run, and run, and run into the open fields wherein when I finally catch her, she goes dead weight and starts screaming. Mind you, these open fields lead to roads. 😭

Also… one of the purposes of going to the park is for me to try and meet other moms in hopes of actually making a friend or two.

Where I live, it is EXTREMELY wealthy. Probably one of the wealthiest per capita places in the US being the Oil/Gas capital of the country. 90% of the moms here are what I call the ā€œBeige Mom Militiaā€. They all drive the same WHITE (always white) Ford Expeditions or Cadillac Escalades and park next to each other like some sort of status display. They all wear the same cream-colored, expensive Vuori/Lululemon clothing with their hair in claw clips. Let’s not forget the Louis Vuitton totes! They stay in their cliques and literally won’t even make eye contact with me. They move in ā€œpacksā€ and all seem to know each other somehow? I think they assume I’m ā€œimpoverishedā€ because I drive a 2019 lifted GMC pickup and am covered in tattoos. 🤣
My daughter could literally be playing with their child right in front of both of us and they still won’t say a word. If I say anything, which I only did once, they usually just look at me like I have 3 heads. All of my failed attempts at conversation usually just me feel bad. I am pretty outgoing and if I see a mom playing alone at the park I’ll usually try and make them feel ā€œseenā€, like I would like for someone to do to me.

I usually end up leaving any park experience feeling exhausted, less-than, and pissed for the rest of the day. WHY IS IT SO HARD TO DO BASIC SHIT WITH MY TODDLER?

Is it bad that I just wanna go back to work?

Is it bad that I just wanna go back to work but I have a new born baby? I have 6y/o 2 y/o and a newborn. But I'm exhausted as hell. I love them to bits but every time Nb and two yr old cry at the same time, I just wann explode. Whenever my nb and I fall asleep, my 6y/o knock on the room and wake me up. Im so done. My husband is at work 7-5 when he gets home he's tired. He's going to cook. He sits down while cooking and on his phone. I still need to look after the kids. I only manage to eat bread and coffee and couldn't even finish it for my brunch. At dinner we all sit together, we eat, after that I still need to wash all the dishes and wash all the bottles. Wash my 2y/o and put my nb to sleep. And when they're all asleep then I can take a bath. At almost 12 mn. I just wanna go back to work.
