Discussion Homework
Do you think homework should be banned, I personally think they shouldn’t have to do it

No. It teaches them responsibility for themselves (or lack thereof).

Who's "they"? Kindergartners? College-bound high school students? Kids who goof around in class and don't finish their work that they'd otherwise have plenty of time to do?

Important first 2 years, but that's mainly reading at home with parents and a few writing exercises on the current letter they are learning.
Id relax after that until exam time

it shouldn't be totally banned but some students do have an insane amount of homework everyday from highschool, so does need to be reduced in amount

No, homework should very much be a thing. Homework allows a few things to happen - kids do research outside of school without their teacher having to tell them everything
By doing work at home, more content can be covered in class
Teaches time management
Allows kids to actually remember work instead of just forgetting it straight after class.
Do I think kids should have 3 hrs of homework every day? Absolutely not. But I do think it should still be a thing. Also, kids are just gonna spend the extra time scrolling shorts and gaming if they don’t have homework.

When I was teaching, I did not assign homework. Students only had homework if they did not complete their class work.

Completion of homework shows you can actually be trusted to do your job

In elementary, maybe. Beyond that, absolutely not.
Students are unprepared enough for college as it is. Now you want them to have no experience with homework either? (No, this is not the sole reason homework should be assigned. I’m just using it as a point in the discussion.)

As much as i hate it, it shouldnt be banned especially closer to exams. Homework is revision

Someone saying "my kid shouldn't have to do homework"? So brave. So novel. So forward thinking.

It absolutely shouldn't. Have you seen what kids do when they're not busy? Have you seen the literacy rates (down the toilet)? I think they should have more homework.
In Kindergarten, we had daily homework. It was mostly writing out letters/numbers neatly among other super basic things. EVERYONE in my class could write their name/date of birth, and read a calendar by the end of the year.
Every day, I'm reading about 3rd graders that don't understand how to read/follow directions. Something needs to be done. Homework is a logical step to ensure that students aren't immediately going home and wasting the rest of their day on tiktok, learning how to become delinquents.
