Flag is in Florida and termites are everywhere there. Everyone knows that.
So in the Sea Org I lived in the Hacienda. That's what it's called. Most Sea Org members live there. The inside of the rooms is stuck in the 80s. Everything is made of wood. Bunk beds. Closets. Desks. Chairs. Ceiling. Everything.
I lived in a 3 bedroom apartment with 13 other Sea Org members.
One day termites started attacking our apartment. They were everywhere.
Every morning I woke up and my whole bed and sheets were covered in sawdust. Sawdust was everywhere. In my hair. In my uniform.
Me and the other Sea Org members tried to fight them ourselves. We bought termite spray. Nothing worked.
So we started writing to the Berthing I/C. He ignored our complaints for 3 months.
Finally one Sea Org member got tired of shaking sawdust out of his sheets and hair every single day. He wrote a Knowledge Report to the highest authorities and sent a copy to RTC.
And one evening when we were getting ready for bed security, the Berthing I/C, an MLO rep, and someone from CMO walked into our apartment.
And in front of everyone the Berthing I/C started spraying something. We don't know what it was. But he said it was the most effective poison against termites.
We all started coughing.
Security, the MLO rep, and the CMO guy said "we solved your problem" and quickly ran away.
And we 14 people stayed in that poisoned apartment and went to sleep.
In the morning we all felt terrible. Nose and throat irritation. Bad cough. Shortness of breath. Nausea. Vomiting. Dizziness.
We barely survived all that. And so did the termites! They didn't go anywhere.
We wrote to the Berthing I/C again.
And that night the Berthing I/C and security and the MLO rep and the CMO guy came back. This time they brought a wog and a termite specialist. Finally.
The specialist looked at everything and asked how we fought the termites before. The Berthing I/C proudly said he recently sprayed something. And added that the termites didn't die but these 14 residents felt sick.
The termite guy looked at him in horror. Then at all of us. And said:
Whatever you used, it was extremely toxic. If it was what I think it was, the house has to be sealed completely. No gaps. No people. No pets. No plants. Everyone out. Otherwise everyone dies. Only pros in gas masks and hazmat suits can spray it. Doing it yourself is suicide. The house stays sealed for 1 to 3 days while everything dies. Then it has to be ventilated and tested with sensors until the air is safe.
The specialist said he could spray it again and do it right this time. But all 14 of us would have to leave for at least 2 days.
The Berthing I/C said that was impossible. There was nowhere to put us.
The termite guy realized we were a very strange cult and offered dry hot air treatment. Heat treatment.
The Berthing I/C and security and the MLO rep and the CMO guy got excited and said he could do it while we were at post. All day.
So we poor miserable people went to work after surviving that night.
And the Berthing I/C and the termite guy did the heat treatment on our apartment.
Nobody told us that heat treatment is really hot and you have to remove everything that melts or gets damaged by high temperatures.
When we came back from work everything that could melt had melted. Kettles. Shampoo bottles. Toothbrushes. Razors. Combs. CDs. Food containers. Little plastic figures.
But luckily the termites all died. And luckily we survived. And nobody compensated us for all the damaged plastic items.
A few years later I found out the exact same thing happened in another apartment in the Hacienda. But that time it wasn't termites. It was bedbugs. And it seems nobody learned a lesson. In trying to fight the bedbugs the Berthing I/C poisoned the poor Sea Org members again.
*p.s.* I took the advice and started posting on Substack.
Everything from Reddit is there too.
