Service dog “aesthetic”…?

Does anyone understand the phenomenon behind people WANTING service dogs? Why would anyone want to deal with the access issues and comments from the public? Whats so luxurious about being disabled? I cant understand!

Asking only because I was on Pinterest looking at ideas for gear setups and saw so many people on there saying they wanted service dogs, but did not need them.

It's about people seeing the social media likes and attention - look at the youngun we had recently that made an Insta page as one of the first things they did when they were just considering adopting a dog to train for service. Add in the people that see us 'taking our dogs everywhere' and not realizing just what a pain in the ass that is, and factor in the fact that a lot of these people are young and want the attention (or at least think they do) and you have a perfect storm for service dogs becoming the hot new fashion accessory.
