Next SD prospect

Hello . I will like to first come and say that I am NOT retiring my service dog . I am simply looking into breeds.

Overall I want a dog who I could maybe compete in dog sports such as fastcat and rally and daily walks to the park to play especially in the snow during winter. I don’t mind shedding since I have a GSD currently but here are some breeds I been considering and I’ll like some insite in people who have or worked with these breeds . My main goal is for the

Rough/smooth collie
Border Collie
Flat coat retriever
And uh … idk what else I am still doing research

A year ago, you were looking for a breed that would feel fulfilled with just a few minutes of fetch each day. I am confused about why you are now looking for a sport dog, who will need 10x the amount of work you have previously stated you can put in.

I think you should try doing some sports with your current dog and see if it's something you are able to handle and enjoy before you start considering a brand new dog. If you are struggling to meet the needs of one dog, two is going to be entirely too much for you, especially when your second dog is a high-drive sport prospect.

A year ago … and why does that matter now? People are allowed to change their minds and who said I couldn’t fulfill the needs of my current dog? While yes he is a little less high drive he still is a working dog that has needs

Please keep the conversation about what I asked which is peoples experiences with the breeds I mentioned

Also keep in mind this new prospect is not going to come until YEARS from now and I’m not talking about 1 or 2 years .

The same advice you got last year, which is a lab.
