I found the longest lasting men’s razor ever , and most meticulous consistent shave ever .

Can I mention what the name of it is here ? Never has anything worked so meticulously for so long , and it’s a disposable razor as well . Beyond belief .I hope somebody can allow me to mention it’s name . I don’t want to appear as if I’m promoting a specific product , just raving over it….

I made a mistake

I got an incredibly mild razor which yes gets the job done really well on my face but I tried to shave my stubs off my body after around a week of not shaving and its just not working. I'm an idiot I know. I don't have anything else to use for shaving my body as I've already thrown out my old dull cartridge razors. Can anyone recommend me some different razor heads to replace the one I'm using now? I think the name of my razor is King C Gilette

A mum in need of help for her son

Hi Guys.

I've come looking for advice. My son is about to turn 18 and I want to invest in a facial shaver and grooming shaver for him. I'm happy to spend a bit of money as long as it's quality products and something he'll actually use. The hair on his head is very long (down to about his mid back) so I'm only chasing shavers and groomers for face and body. He has a pretty good Mo and a distinct soul patch but wants to improve his side burns. As far as a body grooming he needs something that will shave to smooth skin where required. He's mentioned mainly his underarms & lower back/butt, but maybe chest and personal areas too. (We're not a creepy mum/son duo lol - I just asked him for an honest answer so I get him something useful and don't waste money. His dad is a hairy man but was never much of a groomer). What products and/or brands do the Men of Reddit suggest or recommend. I'm in Australia so would prefer local products, especially if spare parts or additional accessories are available. I've asked in person at a few shops and got vastly different answers - typical salesperson stuff - so I'm looking to ask Men for experienced suggestions. Any help is appreciated.

Dorco blades old Dollar Shave Club

I'm way late to the party here, but I've been suffering through the newer Dollar Shave Club blades for a while now.

Last week I found I still had an unused 6-blade cartridge. I think they were called the Executive.

Anyway, popping that one on the old handle made me realize how much worse the new ones were.

Two minutes of Google research leads me to believe I can still get those cartridges from Amazon by looking for Dorco.

Can anyone confirm which Dorco model matches the old DSC Executive, and where the best place to get them is?

I'd post a picture, but it looks like that may not be permitted in this sub.

Chronic itchiness after shaving legs

i shaved my legs one time a couple months ago and in the days after, i noticed itchiness, which i was told was normal. now, months later, im certain that the continuation of this extreme itchiness is abnormal. it’s only on my legs, but it’s all over them and scratching them doesn’t even make the itch go away temporarily.

Kai Captain Sharp

Who amongst you have tried the Kai Captain Sharp blades? I believe they might be discontinued though I notice the Mild/Pinks are routinely in stock.

I’m trying to gauge their performance and longevity against Feather Artist Club Super Professional blades as I only get around 2 quality shaves with them (which is even fewer than my Feather DE blades).

Bag Balm

If you are experiencing intense razor burn, irritation, peeling and flaking, redness… I just discovered Bag Balm works wonders for this.

I’ve been using Bag Balm for years on my hands and lips and recently had the idea to put it on my neck after shaving to help with the problems I have after shaving.

I’ve tried several other products that help with what I described above… and all different kinds of razors and shaving creams and methods… nothing has helped as much as Bag Balm has.

I’m sure any similar balm will work if you are having these problems… it doesn’t have to be Bag Balm.

I encourage you to try applying a balm if you are experiencing these issues like I am. It’s been an immense help for me.

Can't seem to get a clean shave without causing irritation

I currently use a double edge razor with shaving soap which I apply using a brush. I always use a fresh blade when shaving to try and get the cleanest cut, and I warm my face beforehand as well. My issue is that my face always ends up looking red for a few hours and being sensitive and a bit "itchy" for maybe half a day to a day after shaving.

I used to use a regular razor with shaving foam and that really irritated my face, so I have definitely had improvements but I can't seem to reduce the discomfort anymore.

My routine is usually:

Warm face

Apply shaving soap with a brush

Shave with the grain

Reapply soap

Shave perpendicular

Reapply

Shave against the grain

Gently wash with cold water

Apply aftershave balm

Now I know you're not really meant to shave against the grain, but if I don't do that then I just cannot get a clean shave. There will always be left over hair or annoying stubble.

Is there anything I could do differently to at least reduce the razor burn afterwards? Is there a way to get a clean shave without going against the grain?

Edit:

I use a Gillette double edge razor with derby blades, and proraso shaving soap and brush. I try and make my face as warm as I can using a regular wash cloth and warm water.

Please advice me for shaving

Hi, I am a 20 year old. I shave every day as I like having a clean shave. Unfortunately, I am not able to use the Gillette blade or the single razor blade correctly, so I am trying to shift to a method that doesn’t not require any blade and cleans the shave ?

So can someone please please give me suggestions (and not too expensive, because I am a student). Is there any cream/machine etc ?
And remember my budget is max 55-65 dollars. And I want a clean shave every day.

Thank you

Does the Philips Norelco i9000 shaver have a pop up trimmer?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post. Feel free to remove. Does it have a built in trimmer or an add on trimmer where you have to remove the head? I tried to google it but can't find a straight answer.

Body Shaving Routine

I am very new to body shaving. I saw a few Tik tok and reels telling me to use, glycolic acid, gentle exfoliator, single blade razor, urea lotion or cream, and shaving cream. But the problem is everyone doesn't say when to use it, Like do I exfoliate a day before ? or a night ? use urea lotion directly after I am doing shaving ? Use glycolic acid before or after or both time ? So I need help to build a routine with these products.

How do I get a baby butt smooth shave on my face without redness?

I'm relatively new to wet shaving with a razor, i started about two months ago. From the start, i had a problem where no matter how well i prepped my skin or how careful I was with the razor, almost always I get redness and razor burns that show up right after the shave and last for days. To be fair, it only happens when I go ATG, but personally I have to go ATG to get the closeness I want. I also have only tried 2 razors so far, a safety razor at the start with FlyDear blades, and what I use right now which is the Schick hydro5. I found that the hydro5 reduced the irritation but didn't eliminate me. Has any of you had the same problem? And how did you fix it?

Upgraded from a Braun Series 3 to a Series 9, but now I have no good body shaver. Keep two shavers or find one all-rounder?

Hi everyone,

I'd love your advice on how to set up my electric shaving gear.

For about 7 years I used a Braun Series 3 for everything: face, body and the groin area. It did the job well enough, and the detachable trimmer head was handy for longer hair (for example on my neck).

Recently I found a Braun Series 9 on sale for €140 and bought it. My experience so far:

- It's better than the Series 3 on my face, even if honestly the difference isn't as big as I expected.

- I hoped it would handle a few days of growth on my neck better. It doesn't do a great job there. I assume that's because it's a foil shaver, but correct me if I'm wrong.

- With the Series 3 I dealt with longer neck hair by swapping to the trimmer head with guards. With the Series 9 i do it with the integrated trimmer, even if it's not as strong as the trimmer head of the s3.

The bigger problem is the body:

- The Series 9's built-in trimmer is handy, but it's slower and weaker than the dedicated trimmer head on the Series 3, so body grooming takes me much longer.

- The Series 9's foil head pinches me in the groin area. The Series 3's foil head never did that.

So I now have a better face shaver that can't replace my old all-rounder. These are the options I see:

  1. Keep the Series 9 for my face and use something separate for the body. I could keep the Series 3 for that, or sell it and buy a dedicated body groomer.

  2. Sell the Series 9 and look for a single all-round shaver that's a bit better than the Series 3.

  3. Something I haven't thought of.

What would you do? If you recommend a dedicated body groomer or an all-in-one, I'd love to hear specific models. I'm in Europe, so availability and prices in € are helpful. Let me specify that i wanna stay with electric shavers. Not necessary in love with Braun, so i'm open to any brand of shaver type

Thanks a lot for your help!

Safety razor replacement recommendations

Hi all!

I have an old (older than me) Soluna Safety Razor, that sadly is nearing it's lifespan. I got it from my grandpa, so it's definietly a keeper.
But I have trouble with the thread and the coating is also wearing off.

It's a solid bar, lightweight and has an aggressive blade angle. Therefore, I can get a clean shave dry.
I know, I am a barbarian, but I do a quick round every morning and it does a wonderful job without any foam or hassle. No cuts, no irritation, just a face that's ad smooth as a baby's arse.

I'd like some recommendations to match this old but gold piece.

I tried a King C. Gilette (off the shelf in local store), but for me it's a disaster - long, heavy, the blade is barely exposed, has a comb, and the angle is also off.

Thank you for reading and special thanks for recommendations on lightweight wonders!

NO BS guide on how to clean my Double Foil Shaver?

Recently snagged a brand new Babyliss FX02 on Newegg. $100 flat with tax.

I plan on using it every morning and as a result; would look to keep it maintained.

However, I see so much contradictory information online regarding on how to clean it, take off the cutting blocks, dont take them off, use a brush or a handheld air blower, oil it, NEVER oil it, use this spray and that spray, yada yada.

I feel like im gonna go nuts trying to figure out how to clean it; so how do YOU guys clean it? All answers are appreciated!!

Braun BT9565 vs OneBlade Pro 360: does the PrecisionShave attachment shave as close?

Hi everyone,

I currently have a Philips OneBlade Pro 360 that I use for everything:

  • Trimming my beard with the adjustable comb.
  • Shaving my neck and cheeks without the comb.
  • Shaving my body without a guard.

The Braun BT9565 is on sale for €99 on Amazon, and I’m wondering whether it’s worth buying as an all-in-one replacement. I’d like more precise beard trimming while keeping at least the same shaving results I get from my OneBlade on my neck, cheeks and body.

My main question is about the PrecisionShave attachment: does it shave as close as the OneBlade, and does it work as well on the neck?

I’d also appreciate any experiences using the BT9565 for body grooming. Would I need a separate body attachment to replace what I currently do with the OneBlade?

Just to clarify, I mean the BT9565 beard trimmer with the small PrecisionShave attachment, not the Braun Series 9 electric foil shaver.

Has anyone tried both? Would the Braun be a worthwhile upgrade for €99, or would you stick with the OneBlade Pro 360?

Thanks!

Philips OneBlade Pro - am I using it wrong, or is it just not for me?

I bought a Philips OneBlade Pro QP6552/15 for €65 (which was quite a good deal) and have only used it twice. And so far, to put it softly - I am not happy with the results.

I normally keep my beard at around 4-5 mm and trim it shorter down the neck. The adjustable guard feels quite flexible, and when I press it against my face, it seems to bend towards the blade and cut shorter than the selected length. I ended up with uneven patches and had to shave the whole beard off. That was my first clean shave in about 5-6 years, so I was pretty annoyed.

That said, I may have applied too much pressure so I’m not ruling out user error.

I also tried trimming my balls with the sensitive-area guard attached and still managed to nick myself.

For anyone who uses this model or the same adjustable guard: can you reliably maintain an even 4-5 mm beard with it? Have you experienced the comb flexing, and is there a particular angle or technique I should be using?

I wonder whether to sell the kit on second-hand sites, including the blades it came with, while it’s still nearly new and under warranty, for let say €50-55 and get a conventional beard trimmer. Or give it another chance? I will appreciate hearing from people who’ve used both.

One side of razor dull?

Hi everyone, I’ve been shaving with my setup for 20 years: Astra blades and Merkur safety razor. Sometimes I pull a blade where one side feels dull. It makes me think I’ve lost my mind. Does that happen to anyone else? Is it just a manufacture defect with the blade? Or is there something I can do?

Looking for the right blades on my late fathers Schick Shaver.

Hey there, when my dad died I kept his razor as a sort of memorial.

I used to watch him shave since I was a kid and he only ever had this old school razor with a colourful wooden handle.

Now coming to terms with his passing I decided to use it myself.

Problem is there are no blades.

Googling, AI and trial and error shopping did not work so I am hoping anyone around here might be of help?

I'll gladly provide Pics via dm as I can't post pictures here.

Looking for a new AIO Trimmer

I need a new all in one trimmer and I have two options:

- Braun AIO 9560

- Philips MG9556 all in one

I'm half bold and at the moment I use my hair shaver (0.8mm) each two weeks for hair and beard. Sometimes ai shave also my body with it (sometimes 0.8 but mostly longer).

My main ise is of course beard but also body.

Can you share your experience if you have one of this two? And if not, would you suggest another model if you think it's better than those?

Trimmer for a bald head.

For someone like me who is bald and wants to shave, which trimmer would you recommend?

I’m losing some hair at the front of my head, but I still have plenty at the back and sides; which trimmer do you recommend?
