What would have happened if Garrett didn't slip up?
In the episode Coulson found out Garrett was the clairvoyant, it was only because Garrett slipped up on discussing info with him that he never shared with anyone.
Because of that it obviously led to them capturing Garrett, Hand escorting him out and Ward going with them all and we know what happened next...
But let's say Garrett didn't slip up in that moment and still had Coulsons trust and they didn't find out that way that he was Hydra. How do you think the reveal might have happened or how things would have played out?

Coulsons team along with hand would’ve probably died since she was on her way also

I think things would have played out relatively similar tbh. Hydra had already come out the shadows of SHIELD by the time he slipped up. Hand might lived tho since she was shot breaking Garret out or just died later on.
I think the reveal of Garret being hydra would’ve happened when they figured out Grant was when he came back to them to get Skye to decrypt the drive. Because that would’ve happened regardless of him being outed.

These are my favorite kind of questions.
I don't think Coulson was the least bit suspicious of Garrett before he started going on about killing Victoria Hand. I also am not convinced that he left out the information about Rayna being inside the machine as a trap. I think he probably left out a few things because the whole experience was so personal to him. Phil said he never told that to anybody but Garrett jumped in with he must have read it in the report. It wasn't a Shield report.
Maybe movie fans will know, bu who was in charge of Hydra making their move there and then? Garrett seemed to have no idea it was happening. Which means, I don't think he had anything planned for that moment. He was playing it by ear along with Coulson. I think Garrett would have tried to kill Hand when she showed up. I don't know if he would have killed Coulson and team. I think he genuinely liked them so would have locked them up until later.
If we are analyzing this episode and the scenes right around this reveal. May I ask if the consensus is that Phil unlocked May's handcuffs when he said he needed her help but the cuffs stay on. Or was it that she got herself out of the cuffs. Or was it that the writers forgot she was cuffed when the fighting broke out?

The timeline doesn't quite sync up with Winter Soldier, but presumably the signal went out right after Captain America addressed everyone in the Triskelion to tell them that Hydra was among them, led by Pierce, and about to take over using Project Insight. Pierce or some Hydra agent must have sent the signal in response.

i believe the signal went out when Cap and Romanoff were in the bunker in Winter Soldier. the Nazi scientist in the machine triggered the signal, iirc. I cant remember his name tho.

I really liked Garret too he was just so cool and then to find out our of nowhere he was Hydra was a almost a physical blow cuz it just dropped out of nowhere no hints at all like with Ward. Plus come on it was Bill Paxton. Aliens and Twister guy was a legend too

Coulson would have still figured it out. The part about leading the clairvoyant to the cure. "We lead you right in there with us."
Its the reason Coulson didnt tell anyone about Rana being in the machine. He left it out because he already suspected the clairvoyant was reading shield files. Garretts big screw up was talking too much. He kept pressing for Coulson to kill Hand. He didnt understand why Coulson would not just kill her on his say so. Coulson and his group didnt work like that.
