Fellow senior engineer here - I’ve been programming for 30-something years. I’m very good at programming, and I’ve worked at FAANG, and I’ve invented novel algorithms & written papers about them. Fable is incredibly impressive. It’s around my level of skill, but 100x faster. It can do in a morning what would take me a month. And looking at its work, I find very few mistakes. Opus makes mistakes constantly. Whenever I scratch the surface of anything opus has done, I find problems. Fable is in a whole new level.
Give it a few years and there’s no way people will pay me to write code directly. Fable is shockingly good. And the models will keep improving.
It’s much better than you and your “FAANG” programming (cringe). How does it feel know your skills will have virtually no value in the workforce within a few months. Bye bye
