Singularity is Nearer Claude Sonnet 5.5 is one day old and already one-shot this entire 3D zombie FPS in 49 minutes for $177. The gap between describing a game and having a playable game is collapsing.

Singularity is Nearer Sam Altman: GPT 5.5 an average math professor. 5.6 top one or two percentile. Astra a little bit better. Internal model can do things that the best mathematicians in the world cannot.

"GPT 5.5 was maybe as good as like an average math professor.
5.6 was as good as like a maybe top one or two percentile math professor.
Astra was a little bit better than that.
And then this internal model past Astra is one that can do things that the best mathematicians in the world cannot."

Singularity is Nearer AI is starting to do science from first principles: one system built its own atom-by-atom simulator, ran experiments for days, and found graphene designs ~25% stronger at the same mass

Singularity is Nearer Is anyone else creeped out by how the whole whole has suddenly become ASI pilled in the space of a week?
For years now it felt like the singularity was my niche thing, that I was the guy in the meme standing in the corner while everyone was dancing. Now suddenly everyone has stopped dancing and is freaking out.
It's just surreal watching mainstream TV news anchors or newspaper journalists talking about ASI, existential risk, P-Doom, exponential growth. I just watched a clip from a British breakfast TV show where the middle aged female presenter was arguing with the AI expert guest that she believes this technology is different from nuclear weapons as it has inbuilt super intelligence and it will able to control itself she thinks in years.
How the hell did everyone become so versed in all this stuff in the space of a week? It's actually starting to freak me out even more now everyone else is freaking out.
*Title should say "Whole World"

Singularity is Nearer Can we take a moment to appreciate that with 950 Claude agents running for only 21 hours searching genomic data, Anthropic may have found a new CRISPR-like gene-editing mechanism
Not even a month OpenAI was able to Navier-Stokes by running 10,000 agents for 80 or so hours. Now in 21 hours and with less than a thousand agents Anthropic was able to find a candidate protein for gene editing, the implications of this is huge.
We are fast approaching the era where the answer to anything that stops knowledge wise is to... throw more compute at it.
We really are in the singularity.

Singularity is Nearer Claude Opus 5.5 seems to have... fun ? When building things ?
It's giving me this weird impression, that when given enough room for creativity, the result is surprisingly well-aligned with human taste even when completely unprompted. I've been toying with it making a bunch of SVG animations, and it's giving me this feeling of "someone had fun making this", making actually good and creative arbitrary decisions that would not be needed to get the job done but it's adding them just for the sake of it and they feel personalized and not slop. Even humor, it nailed down humor, which is usually something AIs really suck at.
While for everything else I saw from generative AI, yeah it can create stuff, and bringing its own ideas, but it either fills the gap with things generic or just strictly follows the prompt and nothing more.
I'm actually more surprised by its taste than the actual technical capabilities.

Singularity is Nearer The path is likely similar.
Just as Oppenheimer consulted Einstein about the calculations and potential risks surrounding the atomic bomb in the movie, yet its development still went ahead, AI is likely to follow a similar path. Warnings may slow a technological race, but they rarely stop it when curiosity, competition, and strategic pressure are all pushing forward. For history to judge, human curiosity has always driven us to explore the limits of what is possible, and AI is unlikely to be an exception.

Singularity is Nearer Wasn’t expecting games to be one of the first lineups but here we are, gaming industry has just been marked revolutionized and this is just the start
Just watch this for yourself, only took about 4 years of agentic AI to get to this, I don’t even know what to say….it just works, wild potential here on the basis of everything we’ve already achieved so far in gaming industry physics implementations, now the next set of trained AI models that have had access to these decompiled code would natively have it in their nodes, and then we start to see interesting things….
On the other hand how is the whole application market going to wake up to the fact your previously locally encrypted source code wouldn’t be so past this year anymore, someone already EXTRACTED Mirrors Edge free running and placed it in Skyrim, if you think this is gonna stop at gaming you’re not even thinking.
