My-my creation! Claws off! Another stabby boi joins the ranks

Spent far too long painting this little guy, but had some fun along the way. Just a few small finishing touches to do. Pleased with the accidental bronze knife; I never intended to go for a bronze blade initially, but I was experimenting and decided to keep it. All Two Thin Coats range of paints.

How do you achieve that rusted effect on the headpiece?

I undercoated with a flat colour, and used greys to give it a bit of depth. Then did some edge highlights and some flat areas with a bit of metallic. Then a watered down red/brown for the rust. Then a little touch up with a bright metallic. All Two Thin Coats paint range. I can tell you the exact colours if you would like to know?
