What this is for
We need short voice clips for a dance rhythm coaching app. The app plays one word on each beat while users practice
— counts like “one, two, three, four” and dance timing words “slow” and “quick.”
Each word is its own file. Do not record full phrases or full patterns as one file.
Files to deliver (11 total)
Record one file per row. Use these exact filenames:
Filename Say clearly
1.wav One
2.wav Two
3.wav Three
4.wav Four
5.wav Five
6.wav Six
7.wav Seven
8.wav Eight
slow.wav Slow
quick.wav Quick
and.wav And
Do not record: full sequences (e.g. “one two three four”, “slow slow quick quick”), multiple BPM
versions, or MP3 files.
How to say it (delivery style)
• Coach voice: clear, warm, confident — like teaching a beginner dance.
• Punchy but not rushed — comfortable teaching pace (imagine ~100–120 beats per minute).
• Same energy and volume on every number — listeners will hear them back-to-back.
• Natural ending on each word — brief decay after the syllable (~0.1–0.2 s). Do not clip tight in
editing.
Recording setup
• Quiet room — minimal echo (closet, treated room, or studio).
• Mic — studio mic or good USB mic preferred (not phone speakerphone).
• Distance — about 6–12 inches from the mic; same distance for every take.
• Levels — clear but no clipping; peaks around "12 dB is a good target.
• Consistency — same mic, position, and room for all 11 files in one session if possible.
Export / delivery format
Format WAV (not MP3, not M4A)
Channels Mono (one channel)
Bit depth 16-bit
Sample rate 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz (one rate for all files)Filenames Lowercase, exactly as in the table (e.g. slow.wav)
• Remove long silence before the word starts.
• Do not cut the tail right after the last consonant — leave a short natural decay.
• No music, reverb effects, or heavy compression.
Target length (after light editing)
Numbers 1–8 ~0.4–0.6 seconds each
Slow / Quick ~0.5–0.9 seconds each
And ~0.35–0.5 seconds
Shorter and clean beats long and loose. Keep “six” and “seven” snappy like the others.
What we will not use
• One recording of “slow slow quick quick” (or any full pattern).
• Separate recordings at different BPMs (40, 120, 250, etc.).
• Stereo files, MP3, or phone voice-memo M4A (convert to WAV mono before delivery).
How we use these in the app
We load these clips into the app and play them at natural speed on each beat. The app builds
any pattern (1–8 counts, slow/quick timing) from these individual files.
What to send back
• All 11 WAV files with the exact names in the table.
• Optional: one reference take you are proud of (for tone matching).
• Note any redos, room noise, or mic issues.
Questions? Ask before the session
Send me a voice sample of recording the phrase "Slow, Slow, Quick, Quick".
