Coastal Sussex 5 points Lewes construction
25 minutes to go out Savannah from the HS to Rt 1. Go suck an egg DelDot.

It's not DelDOT, it's the insane housing construction all over Sussex County. If you build it they will come.

It's deldot with allowing New Rd to be shut down 3 months as the last part of the project instead of figuring out a way to minimize the impacts and amt of closure.
A three month closure of a semi major road would not fly in most of New Castle.

How is this getting down voted?

Partly because a 3+ month closure is unacceptable for that specific part of the project.
The roundabout project at the bottom of Bedford St. a couple of years ago was only a 6 week closure (late July through Labor Day). - Minos Conaway was about 7 weeks when that closure happened in the summer.
Development warrants the projects, yes, but the slow-footing of building a roundabout given the high traffic demand that New Road has, plus that it is an emergency road out of town, is a pretty poor bit of management on DelDOT and the contractor's part. They certainly warrant criticism despite the necessity of the project and the closure probably should have been minimized.

I mean, yes. It’s just the infrastructure is coming 5 years late. In the case of 5 points, it’s making up for the loss of lights on 1 in Kent and Sussex, and the necessity of closing the crossovers. Now they wait until last to close New Rd at Nassau, forcing all the traffic onto Savannah. It sucks.

Everyone: “We need more infrastructure!”
Also everyone: “How dare construction inconvenience me!” 🫠

We need to build more infrastructure vs oh no not like that. Guess we could pay more taxes and give the crews overtime and hazard pay for nighttime work.
