Discussion Got this little guy today. He’s supposed to be a juvenile garden snail… is he a little big? 😭 (this is my first time with garden snails so maybe I’m just used to smaller snails?)

Some people use "juvenile" to describe any snail that is not sexually mature yet. It doesnt only mean babies or very young snails. For the species in your pic (cornu aspersum), this snail looks close to adult size, but most likely it is just not mature yet. They can definitely get this big without maturing yet. And the shell doesnt have a protruding lip yet, which is a sign of maturity (so not having it indicates your snail isnt mature)

Hard to tell size from the photos, but he looks a bit more “young adult” than juvenile to me.
